Funny. :-) A few years ago, the refrigerator stopped working at my parents' house the day AFTER Christmas. I was so thankful that it held on until all the food it was cooling could be cooked and eaten.

Mine isn't psychic but does seem to enjoy messing with me. The door spring is broken. If you don't support it, the door crashes towards the floor. And that seems to have made the wiring crabby.

Every time I press start and maneuver the door into place I say a little prayer.

I was lucky that I was able to get an acceptable refrigerator, to replace the one that died, that same week (also lucky that the weather turned very cold, below freezing for couple of days, so that bought me more time to search). On sale, too! The brand/model that I preferred, though, was forecast to be available mid-March - nope, couldn't wait for it.

Actually the mid March brand was my second choice - the LG bottom freezer, french door in black stainless, with a small dent in the side so only $725!! was 1/4" too deep to fit through the kitchen doorway, even with its doors removed.

My dishwasher's electronic control panel has been threatening to go on the fritz for close to 2 years - this after having the control panel fail twice in its first year. Say I choose one of the shorter cycles - like "top rack only" - it will decide mid cycle that I really wanted a full 90 minute cycle. Or, it won't open the detergent bin until nearly through the wash cycle. But, these are minor annoyances, just makes me wonder exactly when it will decide to fail....
