Vinyl siding style question

Hi, I'm looking to replace the wood siding on my home with vinyl siding. Do you think I should stick with something vertical like board & batten or go horizontal (clapboard or shingle)? The existing wood siding was more of a clay color but has faded to gray.

I would do a shingle siding on the front in another color than gray…something closer to the color of your garage door and then horizontal siding for the sides

Why vinyl at all? IMO not the right choice for such a stately brick home. Is the old siding in bad shape or just the color? I love his color with brick and that fence has got to go . A nice wrought iron fence would be a lot nicer too.. I would for sure not do shingle the house will not suit that at all.
