Bedroom revamp update

3 years ago
last modified: 3 years ago

Here is my before and after. If you followed my previous post, in addition to my wallpaper mockup original plan I added molding to the fireplace (I was looking for a way to coordinate my blue bathroom with my bedroom), revamped my light fixture (different than what is in the before photo), and changed the curtains. I need to rehang the right side.

The chandelier was a complete transformation. Here is the before.

My goal with the space was for it to be dark, bold, and artsy with multiple patterns. Let me know what you think, both good and bad.

Thanks!

    It is dark, bold and artsy so fait accompli! That gorgeous painting is such a strong statement piece that what would be overly bold in some homes, works perfectly in yours. Well done.

    I think it all looks awesome, Friday. You have such a creative vision, it always inspires me.

    The room looked great before, but these changes take it to another level. The wallpaper is perfect!

    That light! I had to keep looking at it to see how it was the same! Amazing.

    @nekotish, @Jilly Thanks! I was most uncertain about the blue mantel. So you think the blue works? The light was very simple after I removed the shade.

    It looks great! Can we see the bed?

    @Tina Marie

    Here is the bed. This is an old photo. I changed the curtains to match the others.

    The blue mantel works very well in your space. You needed something strong to ground that painting and you nailed it IMHO!

    @nekotish, @Jilly Sometimes I second guess myself. I definitely wanted a solid blue statement so that the room would compliment my blue bathroom. It is not the exact same color but it coordinates. The mantel and chandelier were a complete afterthought after I had completed the wallpaper. You have restored my confidence ;-) TY

    I'm having trouble with the blue. I see an ivory mantel as picking up what's already there. I love the individual pieces....the artwork is amazing...as is the swing arm wall mounted lamp next to the bed...love the zebra rug...the wall paper....the shelving...as individual elements. I'm no expert...so I wouldn't put any weight on my observations.

    Thanks! @User An ivory mantel and light fixture would look something like this. I was looking for a way to bring blue into the mix because my bathroom is blue and there is basically no blue in my room. I wanted something a little funkier than ivory.

    This particular blue is very shimmery. I initially painted it a royal blue and then added several coats of a clear gloss medium mixed with a duo-chrome powder that is blue/green. Pearl Ex. It is shimmery and very reflective which would likely make you dislike it even more! The photos really don't show the duo-chrome and reflective nature of the paint.

    Sorry...I thought the wall to the left was ivory....my monitor....? The blue just seems sudden...and cloud like...no connection...the bathroom I do remember....but...was stand alone...as I recall...

    In a word, FABULOUS!

    Your artistic vision is bold, strong, unafraid. The end result speaks for itself. You've done a perfect job of bringing an extra jolt of life to the space. I wouldn't change a thing.

    Wow, what a cool room! I envy your artistic ability to liven up a room. The painting needed that cast of supporting elements and you put it together perfectly.

    @roarah Thanks!

    @Ida Claire If I am ever in need of a spokesperson I know who to call. Bold, strong, unafraid. You make me sound so fierce! TY!

    @OutsidePlaying I am amazed at what a difference this one wall has made. Thank you! It has changed the feel of the space. Next, I am going to either venture out into the hallway or the laundry room.
