It is steep, but at the time it wasn't sold commercially anywhere, and the occasional rose was donated to a group's money raising sale. Roses like Simsalabim are sports that often revert to the color of the rose they sported from. I'm not saying this well, and I hope others who know more about Simsalabim tune in. I think there's another sport with a different name that's really Simsalabim. Memphis Magic (?) is similar. Try Help Me Find Roses' rose search. Diane

Here I am again. Simsalabim and Alakazam are the same rose and sports of the Kordes rose, Hocus Pocus. Sim was introduced in Germany in 2002 as a florist rose. I don't know if it's for sale in the US. Diane

I have Memphis Music and it is so diverse in color. There are a few with that color trait.

It's one of the many sports of the Hocus Pocus family. There are tons of them, and then there is the whole Memphis Music, etc. family, which a lot of folks think might just be from the whole Hocus Pocus line, although the introducer claims otherwise. I've grown them since ~2000, and have had all sorts of different blooms and sports and reversions over the years. My current Simsalabim has way more yellow than the pic from the OP, but I've only had it for a year and a half! I have a new budded maiden of Alakazam, so we'll see how that goes!

At ~ 8 minutes in, he discusses the reason for sports, and right afterwards discusses the whole Frisco sport line, including why he introduced Alakazam as a different rose from Simsalabim.
