Can I put concrete blocks in the pool?

I have a square pool except for a portion that sticks out where the stairs are. I have a suction vacuum (Zodiac G3) that generally works well. But when it gets to the stairs, the hose curves around and the vacuum gets stuck. I always have to go out and poke it with a pole. I've decided that a solution may be getting some typical concrete blocks and basically building a wall on the lowest stair to close off the square pool and not let the vacuum to go there. Is concrete OK to be in the pool long term? It's a non-saltwater chlorine pool in Florida. I'm not worried about stair access, just if the concrete will do any damage to the pool system.
Thanks
