I assume you love in Texas so the choice of tile for an outdoor kitchen is very different from where I live . I woud talk to the tile shop about how each stands up to your weather and then you need to see which one works with the existing choice

I’m also planning to pull my current pool decking and replace with either travertine or porcelain tiles. I have not heard of issues with travertine (in Texas). On the contrary people rave about it not getting hot during the hot and sunny summer months. Freezing is typically not an frequent issue where I live in Texas which might be why it hasn’t come up as a potential concern. That said, we do go below 32 once and a while.

@User we do get few nights of below freezing in North Texas (Dallas). The sales person at F&D said that it can stand freeze/thaw. Thoughts?

IMO F&D would not be my go to for info. Right now you are experiencing some weather are you not that for sure is abit odd but not unlikely. I love slate for outdoor kichens it stands up to whatever you throw at it and I used for all the surfaces in my out door kitchen I love thta it shows nothing, is fine in our goofy Canadian climate too.

We used Shellock Pavers from Artistic Pavers for our outdoor area, including covered lanai and pool decking and coping. We used the Ivory color. Very happy with the product so far. Friends have used it in 2 houses going back 20 years and they were very happy with the durability and minimal maintenance.

With the way the weather systems change, I would suggest getting something that can stand a freeze. We have worked with pavers from Happy floors ( they are out of Florida ) - they might have something you like.
