Thanks everyone. we do have instalkers but the tile install quote is 1.25x the actual cost of the tile. seems very high. thoughts?

The cost of the tile is completely irrelevant to the cost of installation. I run from potential customers that make wacky formulas.

Don’t know about tile, but when I bought raw hardwood flooring, the installation was 6 times the flooring cost.

I would hire the most experienced tile person that your budget can afford. You want the job done right the first time and you want a person that can produce great work with whatever tile you give them.

I've never compared a tile installation quote to the amount of money I spent on the tile.

Another echo from me: labor is usually the most expensive part of construction projects. You want it done right, regardless of the price of raw materials. Otherwise it’s a waste of money and the raw materials.
