What is your humidity level in your house?

I have no idea, the temp is 65 in my house… this whole week its been very windy so i feel that my roof is going to fly away.

Can this be fixed?

Yes, it can be fixed, but, please make sure the humidity in your house is correct, and also have your roof checked, just in case that is the cause. A good drywall person, can repair it all, but, if its caused by something else, then it will just happen again.

Who do i call to check it and what do u mean repair it all?… i have to replace all the dry wall in my house?

@Joseph Corlett, LLC i did read it, ive read other peoples story and it just seems like it comes back?

im not handy enough in i can do it myself, who exactly can fix it? what title does the guy need to have?

ive also read the insilated it more can eliminate it, is that true?

Is your house on clay soil? If so, the cracking could be due to ground shifting. Need to water around the foundation on regular basis. I had yard sprinklers installed so they would keep soil next to foundation watered.

@krissie55 i think its sandy... as of right now the foundation is soaked becuase of all the rain... i live in california.

@Gonzo M. You can hire a handyman or a painter who can easily fix this. You can do a search on Youtube for "Ceiling crack repair" and you will find many videos and tips on how to do this DIY. It's not a difficult repair here is one video you can take a look at it gives you many tips on what is involved.

One extra step you should take before all the tips that are in the video is to chase the crack with a utility knife as you see it in the video to clean up loose paint particles and whatnot from the edges and make a crack slightly wider in a v-shape and fill the entire crack with calking and when done run a moist sponge to clean up the surface and at the same time making a small indentation by pushing calk slightly inside and allow to dry before you proceed with the rest of repair.

thanks for the reply… i have 3 drywall places im going to call on monday… my concern is if its tuss uplift that is causing this problem that the drywall people are familiar with the problem and if they can do some modifications so it wont happen again.

What makes you think that you have trusses... did you go up and look or someone told you that?

i just figured that i do, dont all new houses have them? my house was built in 2018 by Lennar…. if its not truss uplift what else can it be, prior to seeing the crack it was very windy so idk if that could have caused it.

Lennar is currently building behind my house, heres a picture. idk if u can tell if it has trusses.

Rather than look at all the how to fix on this, please have someone come and inspect your attic, and your roof. It may be just settling, or it may be that you have very low humidity levels in the house. Its best to know exactly what caused it, before you try to make it pretty again, because, the pretty may not last, if you have a problem. Here on this forum, it is all guesses. We cant see how your house is built, and what the problem is, we can only guess. If it turns out the roof did lift, then, you need a professional, to repair it, before you get the drywall all fixed. Its much better to find out and know, than to just guess.

Ive had the same problem, went to the builders and they told me it was due to pavers installed causing truss uplift. i do kknow where to turn anymore, i live in Arizona. Can someone help?
