alabaster cabinets

I am painting my cabinets alabaster. What white/beige neutral wall color do you recommend to go with alabaster? Would Egret White go well?

Agree with herbflavor on painting the cabinets first, then look at paint samples- My interior is alabaster and it looks completely different depending which direction the room faces and the amount of light it gets.

I agree with Anna and herbflavor, paint them then see how it goes. Something I have learned is that certain colors can make an off white like Alabaster look dirty…I’m currently changing the trim in my house bc I painted the walls mostly Alabaster and that color made my off white trim look dirty. There’s a science to all of this. If you check out LRV on thelandofcolor.com, you can learn what will work…for this decision and others down the line. If you want to skip learning and just want an answer, Kylie M Interiors has colors she recommends with Alabaster on her blog, you can google it. But that comes with a caveat, bc she breaks it up into what directions rooms are facing due to the lighting they get. So that kind of limits what colors she recommends. You could always get samples of her recommendations and apply them and see how it goes. I did accessible beige as an accent in a hallway that is mostly alabaster. The two colors do go great together. But the area painted gets a lot of light in the morning, it’s east facing. It’s beautiful and warm in the morning. But in the afternoon it washes out…it looks gray. I don’t mind it but I made the decision before I looked into all of this science behind color and it makes a big difference.

    Would Egret White go well

    Yes. Here's why.

Thanks everyone. I plan to do brushed brass hardware and doing blue island- indigo batik. Backsplash is host subway tile and countertops are white quartz with gold veining

    Painting cabinets starts today

    White not host 🤦🏼‍♀️

the alabaster is a pretty bright white and the grayer counters will amplify that. It's fine if you've decided but i would go for a neutral off white for the walls.......something between the backsplash tile and the alabaster shade. Maybe a color but the walls /windows/ floor arent shown enough to see how color would work in your space and you say the island will be a color anyway. do the walls need painting because the wall shown there isnt a horrible situation . you could wait and see how everything plays once done...that is probably the best. I know sometimes the painters are " ready set go " .... ..what color do you want ? [which makes it a challenge.] shown: ben Moore " decorator white" color on walls. note how the gray shower tiles and floor along w white fixtures all work w such a shade....yet it is not far off from the mirror frame / a warmer white.

The shadows make the countertops look gray. They are very white

See picture below. Also what color island would you recommend? I was going to do indigo batik

Well they are being painted alabaster today😂

I was going to do pure white and many cautioned me that it would be very bright with the backsplash and countertops

what has to be painted today? or told to the painters today? If you were willing to leave the wood cabinets I think painting the island Hale Navy [if you want blue] and work with table venue with new pendant/ use money saved for new table /chairs and a new window treatment/ hardware on the cabinets might create a new look for the space. Its not clear what your inspiration really is so I would be working w the wood cabinets. If you want to keep the chairs you could paint the island a black/ get a light over table w black metal/ black hardware on cabs etc... seems like you are about ready to sign off on painting..not sure..so it's hard to give opinions at this stage but a smaller project than painting all the maple cabs could offer options .

They already purchased the paint is what I meant. They are reputable and removing doors and sanding.

The floors and cabinets are the same and dated. I have always wanted a white kitchen. It is a sea of brown and needs to be brightened up

I have purchased white chairs. I just don’t have them yet

a green island .... or if you want ....blue .....add color there...keep the floors as they are.

Yes. Do you have a blue you would recommend?

    Kitchen opens to this space

Hale Navy......you could start with that and look at the adjacent colors.....the floor as is would work well w Hale Navy. I usually stay away from purplish blues/ grays in living areas. [except I have wedgewood blue in a bedroom] . Do you have some sample cards you brought in from a paint store ??

Are you repainting all that trim in Alabaster?

Having all that trim in one white color and the cabinets in another white color would bother me. That bright white on the trim is going to make the Alabaster cabinets look dirty/aged.

I could paint the trim if needed. I will have to see what it looks like. I got many blue samples but still having a hard time. I told them indigo batik but second guessing it

I’m so worried now about the alabaster but I guess I will have to work with it

oh dont worry..... it's going to transform the wall zones . Much will happen when you get to the island. Look at the white "cabinetry to be" as your backdrop. Your home looks lovely. Alabaster is a relatively bright white...but not the brightest.....it may be what you need with only one small window. The table/ chairs/pendant and island is a great opportunity section that comes next. It'll be fine. Here are two kitchens all in alabaster white.....you can see it's not the most clinical or frosty white that you see sometimes. and you still have island to do.

Thank you;). I appreciate the positive feedback. I really do love those pictures. Do you have a SW blue you would recommend? Do you think indigo batik is too bright?

I think hale navy too dark? Maybe SW naval?

Leave the island wood. It wears better against high use.

here are some blue island colors for ideas. there is certainly a range to pick from..it gets down to personal choice after eliminating what doesn't work. B Moore "Charlotte Slate" in first pic. quite nice.

Thank you herbflavor. I good batik has more navy while still a blue. I will stick with that

Just need to figure out the wall color😂🤦🏼‍♀️

Was able to switch cabinet color to SW Pure White

I think, that pure white is a much better choice, than alabaster. I like alabaster, but, do not like the yellowy look on cabinets and trim.

Would you recommend alabaster for the walls? I put Egret White on the walls and it looked terrible. Also thinking of BM ballet white. Any recommendations for a wall color?

Not done yet but coming along

It’s looking great! I’m glad you were able to change from Alabaster to Pure White. With your floor, I think Alabaster would’ve had an undesirable yellow undertone. The Pure White will be less finicky. Did you decide on Indigo Batik for the island? Can you post a picture? Also, I’d like to see the lighting you’re considering.

I did choose indigo batik. Any wall color suggestions? I would like to go with a white but with contrast to my white trim. Trying to stay away from gray undertones- Egret looked terrible which is why I’m leaning towards ballet white. Sample on the last photo at the top.
