fireplace accent wall??

we recently replaced the fireplace surround with new marble and new fireplace doors will be installed soon. The entire room including mantle will be painted. mantle and trims will all be chantilly lace BM.

I was thinking of the idea of painting the wall that the fireplace is on a light blue gray snd the other 3 walls a light gray or off white. i thoight the blue color woukd be nice , to tie in with the new kitchen backsplash being installed. Trying to have color cohesivness in the house .

should i paint that wall as an accent or keep all 4 the same color?

Paint color is chosen to complement floors & textiles in the room. I don't think an accent wall works in this room. Accent walls usually are plain without doors, windows, FP, etc. And gray doesn't work with your floor, which is beautiful BTW. Maybe a pale sage. Do you have a rug? Furniture?Window Treatments?

I would not use an accent wall anywhere, every but especially not in a room as beautiful as this one where there are so many decorative details. I often think of accent walls in boring spaces where there is nothing going on, or in a space where someone is too timid to choose a color. Love your floors and the marble is beautiful.

Thanks kendrah. i will consider what you stated and rethink keeping all walls the same color. I was sewrching ideas, and csme across quite a few living rooms woth the fireplace wall a different color or a shade darker or lighter than the rest of the walls. Some rooms were a lot more ornate or detailed than my room and I thought they looked nice . but maybe they aren't nice and i just think they are 😂 maybe all 4 the same is rhe way to go .

Ive had gray in my dining room before and it looked very pretty ( stonington gray) I use cool grays and they look nice with my floors , which are white oak and a really light wood. I am probably doing a very pale gray in my DR , much lighter than what I had. Thinking of Fleur De Sel by SW. I ordered a couch and loveseat. They are a very light gray.. Window treaents are the illusion shades which sre an off white/ivory color. valance is being taken down and will just be using sheer panels for esthetics in off white/ ivory color . My home colors are a mx of white, ivory, blue, and gray with silver accents/ decor.

If you select the correct items for the wall you won't need an accent color. Paint all the walls the same color.

Agree. Your floors are beautiful. If you must do gray, pick a very very pale shade.

Your ideas sound monochromatic. Is that what you want? How about some color in your rugs, window coverings, pillows? Navy or rust?

Yes, the ciolors are what I want and like. I like, muted soft colors. I use cooler color pallettes. Previously had stonington gray in DR and living room was grey wisp ; which was a blue/ green color. its still parially on the walls . Time for a change though after 9 years looking at it. Navy is too dark for my preference and no way to rust- I hate shades of browns/ oranges.

    beverlyFlaDeziner, thanks for the mockup.

i have rhought about adding some consoles or chests to flank the fireplace as yoy have

pictured, but is it too much? I go back and forth with it, as I like the idea, but then i think it has the potential to compete with the firolace as a focal point . Perhaps i am totally wrong about that though.

i previously had 2 chairs flanking the firplace. It was okay, but I always felt like the chairs were too far back from sofas, and if i pulled them forward, they looked like they were just dropped there , as then there was too much empty space behind in the corners. It never felt right. Its an awkward shaped living room,.

If I did do cabinets flanking the fireplace, what color / style style? since accent wall is tossed out, it got me rethinking how to style this LR. The fireplace mantle/ surround is being repainted Chantilly Lace ( crisp white) The marble pictured is cararra marbe.

should i look at white cabinets to blend with fireplace or espresso to tie in the existing

sideboard? The large sideboard is staying in the LR. It was relocated from my DR during renovations, as there is no longer a place for it there. it was custom piece , so I am not getting rid of it It is a dark wood with a white marble top. espresso seems the closest coordinating color to it that is available in furniture items from wayfair, amazon etc.

would any of these work? they also cone in white I am considering this coffee table for the LR. I dont want a dark heavy coffee table, as the sideboard and now possible fireplace, will have wood/ heavy pieces. I want to keep coffee table and possible end tables light . Silver/ glass finishes. thoughts??

Existing sideboard staying on this wall Excuse mess

    considering this coffee table

Would any of these espresdo ones work flanking the fireplace? they also come in white

    Thank you beverlyFLADeziner

i have a sofa and s loveseat, i dont have all those individual chairs.. Sofa will be in front of window and loveseat facing fireplace..

with this pic are you suggesting dark cabinets flanking the fireplace?

would the glass coffee table work with the dark cabinets? im not sure if the coffee table you mocked up represents the glass coffee table or if you are suggesting something else .

i was thinking glass end table (?) so id have sideboard and flanked csbinets in dark wood coffee table and side table in glass to keep it light. I see you have a dark end table pictured.

i was looking at these end tables One matches the cofee table exactly . The other is silver/ glass, but it an exact march to keep it coordinated, bur not matchy- matchy so to speak.

If you want to carry the blue colour of your backsplash do it through accessories - a vase, throw pillows, the same colour in a fabric for a chair, the same blue as the background in art work.

You'll have to post images of the furnishings for some feedback.

I would never use a loveseat. Two people never want to sit on them together.

Also, if there are lots of rectangular seating in the room, I find it's a relief to see round end tables so that the room is not filled with 90-degree corners.

Sometimes large coffee tables can anchor a room.

We dont mind a lovesear, so we chose a loveseat. some love them, some hate them 🤷‍♀️ we like then.

i wont have the couches until June.

    no other furniture to post

i understand about mixing round to soften. the coffee table i posted being considered is oval.

these are pics of sofa and loveseat. not the colors, just the style
