We built a custom house in FL in 2021 and put in engineered wood floors throughout most of the house. They have a hard wax oil finish and we have been very happy with the way they look. No issues with 3 dogs, drooling and some other pet accidents ... but do make sure you clean them up as quickly as possible. We are empty nesters so no kids in the house.

I don't find the engineered wood floors require any more upkeep than any other floor. We vacuum minimum of once per week and mop/clean with a slightly damp mop once per week using the cleaner specified by the manufacturer. I would do the same if I had tile floors.

I had wood look tile in the guest house of our previous house and we were also very happy with that, but I didn't want tile everywhere in the new house.

My parents have LVP wood look in their house and they are happy with them. That was the standard flooring from their builder and they were happy with the selection.

How much water are you getting on your wood floors? I dropped a full mug of very hot tea on my floors and had no issues at all. Of course, I ran and got paper towels immediately and dried it all up, but engineered wood floors shouldn't be so delicate that they can't withstand spills that get cleaned up in a timely manner.

Thoughts? No one can tell you what to choose for your own house! Go look at the products out there and decide what will work for you.
