Pretend someone else wrote that and it.s your first time to read it. I read it twice and I still don't know what you mean.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll try to clear up the confusion.

In the floor drain, there is a copper tube that is installed into the pvc. This copper is installed horizontally (from what I can see) into the side of the pvc drain. There was(is) standing water in the drain up to this copper outlet. I poured a gallon of water into the drain and it runs off into the copper pipe.

My question, is this a standard plumbing configuration given it was installed in 1997? With other drain outlets within 5 feet or so of this floor drain ( washing machine drain, full bath within 5 feet) why would they have used copper and/or set it up this way?

Hope this makes sense, thanks again for your time.

" I poured a gallon of water into the drain and it runs off into the copper pipe." right on to main and out to city sewer or septic system so I don't know what you are stressing over. Copper is approved (and superior to pvc) for drain lines.
