Do you own this place or rent? How low does the window go?

My first thought is to create a built-in bench with a cushion or put in a chaise lounge instead of your loveseat.

That beige-y brown carpet isn't doing you any favors, though.

Do you like to read? Perhaps a bookcase along the shorter wall, then angle your loveseat in the opposite corner facing it with ottoman in front. Put the light behind. Make sure you pull it out enough so it doesn't catch the curtains

Just a suggestion about your ottoman. I noticed you've covered it but it looks a little messy. You might want to use duct tape to tighten up the cover underneath. It's a cheap way to recover things. Another way would be to use large safety pins underneath to tighten it up.

Thanks everyone!! The carpet is actually more creamy grayish-it’s just kind of darker in here right now. I plan to get some different ottoman covers because these are driving me crazy and keep coming off! I want to secure them on but the ottoman actually opens up so I want to be able to access that

Function comes first! lol I have things in my house that could look better but function wins.

I’d just add pretty pillows and patterns to lighten it up.

You can paint the walls of the nook a different color and keep the drapes. Raise those blinds! Bring in the light. You only need to lower them when bedroom lights go on.

I love those colorful pillows and ottoman cover!! I would love to paint the wall and get a new chair but at this point I can’t spend the money and don’t have much time!
I have this mirror coming-any ideas where I could put it? Or how I could fit it nicely in here?

I like what ffpalms suggested. I know you are on a budget. Do you have any colourful scarves you could drape over the ottoman as a temporary measure? Perhaps one that picks up on the colours in your cushions? As for the mirror, would it work on the angled wall? You could move the picture to over the chair in the nook.

@Je Penny you say function comes first, so can you please tell us what you plan to do in this space? Do you like to sit on the loveseat with a cup of morning coffee and watch the world go by like my cat and me? If so, your arrangement is perfect but I'd like a little table next to me to put down my coffee while I text on HOUZZ. With the mirror there, will you go to check out your look? By the way, mirror placement may depend on where the rest of the room is. If the rest of the room is off to the left, then I might like the mirror on the right side to bounce light deep into the room. The mirror is a good idea by the way.

Tidy up, get a cord chanel for the light cord. Get the ottoman tightened up; if you buy new, get a lighter color. I would go so far as to get a slip cover for the loveseat too, because it looks worn through. Can you coordinate the slip cover colors with your bed cover colors? Otherwise, a cream color might be best for loveseat and ottoman. Pull the loveseat away from the drapes so they move freely behind. I would not add any more than one pillow, and that pillow should be useful, not just for show; avoid clutter. If you can stand a houseplant, I would like to see what a tall one would look like next to your floor mirror to take the edge off. 

It would help if you declutter, tighten up and post again, especially after the new slipcovers.

I’m back with a little update, still trying to decide what color cover I want for the chair and ottoman. Where should the mirror go? By the window or on the wall? (I put both options in the pics) or any other ideas? I also put that little end table by the window (if the mirror goes on the other wall) and would probably put a taller plant over there if that end table stays. If the mirror stays by the window, should I just do away with the end table? Anywayssss thoughts?? Don’t worry you won’t hurt my feelings, I’ll take any advice! 😘

I like the mirror as shown in the first photo because it reflects the window and the colorful pillows. It’s hard to say what color covers for the chair and ottoman because it’s only part of the room not shown in your photo. It could be all you need is a colorful throw. I don’t think you need a plant in that space. The pillows alone add a lot of life, and it would be easy to overcrowd that area.

Angling the chair made a big difference! I like the mirror in the first picture. It looks like the chair could move forward a bit more because it's still catching on the curtains. If you bring it forward a bit it would give you the bonus of out of sight storage behind there (out of season clothes in bins or baskets). I don't think you need the table or if you do, perhaps a darker coloured one would be better.

Showing the rest of the room would be helpful.

The mirror placed as it is on the side wall is great. The rest is confusing.

I would love to see the rest of ther room as well. Very cozy nook!

I like the mirror on the wall. I think there are too many pillows. I'd go with 1 white fluffy pillow on the chair and drape a white fluffy throw across the ottoman. Add a glass vase of flowers on the table..(and a glass of wine and a good book or tablet with Houzz) and voila!

Yes on the house plant and declutter. I like the idea of a single reading chair with an ottoman and either table and lamp or floor lamp. I would also definitely add a rug to help define and separate that space from rest of room.

I would add that the curtains seem a bit bland next to the carpet. But with the right rug to add color then maybe that would still be ok. Good luck! I love bedroom nooks. I had one at my last place.

How big is the window?..do you need the blinds AND the curtains?..what direction does the window face?..is privacy an issue?..i always like sheers in this type of situation…they add softness …especially in a bedroom…but will push to the side completely when you want the view or light..lastly shades that pull up from the bottom…will allow a fuller view while also offering only the amount of privacy needed at any given time

This does look like a collage of small (family.. vacation…personal memories?)photos on the walls would be nice here

If the idea of sheers appeals to you…also look at the pretty sheers with a pattern in the weave …a pretty detail..which also adds a little more privacy..you can see a tiny slice in this photo…of a sheer we added to huge sliding doors in our bedroom…adding privacy but not blocking the view which is too gorgeous to block ofv completely

You can also see the embroidered sheers…which are in the living room of our open floor plan…

Lastly the scale of this room really requires smaller decorative accents….no huge art, wall decor, keeping photos to small groups of small pictures will fit better

This is getting better! Great job! Do you need the basket? I wonder how it would look to get rid of the basket and move the little table where the basket was, so one side of the arranged appears to have a clear path to the curtains. Can you just please try that and snap a photo to show what that looks like?

The nook area look quite dark so I would try to lighten things up...

Don't know the style of your bedroom but the same idea can be done in different furniture style to coordinate with your bedroom.
