Huh! I have no idea if it’s American Standard. I don’t see a brand on it anywhere. The timer device on the wall says “Aqua Massage” on it but tub could very easily be a different brand.

I know I’m a little late to the discussion, but thought I’d chime in. Over the past 20 years, we have owned two different Jacuzzi’s. With both I regularly used jet cleaner. The first Jacuzzi I used whatever brand was available and found myself once a year running bleach through the system because of the occasional black flake. When we moved to our current home we installed a jacuzzi. It came with and recommend their “Jacuzzi Systems Clean”. For the past 8 years, I have been using this product monthly and exclusively and have yet to see a black flake. It is available on Amazon. Will admit we have did have one issue a little less than a year after install. Our set up is a air jet whirlpool tub combo and we didn’t have the air jets set to blow out air automatically it was only set up to once a day or after fully bathing. Since we shower more often than we draw a bath water was sitting in the airjets on the floor of the tub and we started getting a sewage smell. At that point I changed the settings on the blower and I ran some bleach through the system. (Not recommended but I also ran a couple cycles of plain water through them immediately afterwards.) Sewage smell went away and we haven’t had an issue since.
