To all Sans friends;

Now that winter is officially over, Spring started. Still too cold for me to bring out my collection. I was wondering how every one is doing. Hope all is well.

My wife and I are fine and in good health. Slowing down with age and keeping up with all the plants is getting old. Looking forward to bring them all back outside for another year.

Hi Stush! I'm glad to hear that. I'm working on the same thing down here.

Hi Stush. I put most of my sans in my greenhouse with a heater and lost a lot of them to root mealy (I think). They were dying from the bottom up, rhizomes were hollow. when it gets warmer i am going to go through my pots and see if I have any rhizomes I can salvage.

i did purchase a Sansevieria Gold Dust in October and kept it away from the others.

Nancy, is that the Gold Dust shown?

Did you spray the collection down with anything? Something with imidacloprid.

I have been using Ortho MAX Garden Disease Control with good results. I spray my plants down with it before I put them away for the winter.

    Yes, that is Gold Dust.

I have been using Bio Advanced Tree& Shrub, Protect & Feed for a couple of years. It does have imidacloprid in it.

i will check out the Ortho MAX garden Disease Control, thanks for the info

Hi Stush, all the sans are growing like crazy. As you know all of mine grow outside and this has been an exceptionally warm year.. Still working on the shade garden so some can go in the ground. Also, the christmas cactus you sent has found its way in many more homes as I want to continue your generosity. - Jody

I did suffer some loss but not too bad this year. There starting to wake up now with more hot sun shinning on them. Another month I can bring them back out for the season.

Hi Stush and all the other sans fans! My sans are eager to go outside. They sort of just "sustain" while they are indoors for the winter. Once they can go out, they become plump, lush, productive pup-makers, and pot fillers!

Hi @Stush2049 Pitts. PA, zone 6. Any pics? Am ok. My gigantic sayuri developed some serious rust. Disappointing, but I'm not sentimental so I took most of it down, salvaged some. Not propagating from it. Tallest spear was 40in ground up before all that happened. Silver queens, 1/2 of which were from here in excellent shape. Old sans trifasciata thriving w pups; helped to give the thing some sensation of being rootbound. Thinking ab Bantel's now, have to read up on that and find a good vendor. Probably won't find a decent plant in Mhtn, but that's to be expected.

I was too overwelmed with many things going on to even think about my Sans. Getting ready to bring them out. Then I will take some pictures of what is left over. Lost all my sans that I kept in the unheated section of my basement where I wintered over my Agave. Lost a few Mangave as well. Most Agave are pretty hardy and didn't loose any.

Stush!!!!! Good to "see" you and all old friends here. Could not get back on here for about two years. Various reasons but just got a new computer so was able to reset password and get on. Changed jobs in 2022. Don't have as many Sans but still have a few. Nice 'Silver Blue' from Stush. A few hahnis. Variegated Moonshine. 'Coppertone' and a couple others. Have not seen Russ active hope he is doing ok. Good to be back. Stush can't wait to see some updated photos,

Chris, Good to hear from you as well. Hope new job is better. I know how upsetting a job can be. I worked at one place 38 years and last few years I was n charge of a good part of the plant and was happy but short lived. New owners and they hated me. I had to retire and leave. Place went to hell shortly after and then shut down 5 years later.

You was the first to give me the Silver Blue and it grew like a weed for me. Glad to re-gift it back to you.

With age and slowing down, I can't keep up with all my plants and have to reduce my load. Plants are showing the result. Not as good quality as before. Shamed to even show them. Every winter it is getting harder on me.

New computers are faster and more powerful and even cheaper then before and updating old stull on them and seeing how much nicer they preform is amazing.

Good to see you back. Looking forward to seeing your plants.
