First photo looks like Provincial on red oa with oil poly.

Second photo looks like Early America or Provincial on red oak with water base poly.

It's possible it can be a custom mix but, i would start with those two colors and go from there.

Is it the oil that gives it that shine then or is it a gloss or semi gloss finish? Our contractor was going to use 3 coats of Bona water finish. Looking online and the provincial does look nice

Oil base is available in satin, semi and high gloss. Where as water base is available in wood look, extra matte, satin and semigloss. The added film build with oil base gives it more depth to the shine.

If, the floor is properly sanded and prepped. The wood will shine, even at very low gloss like extra matte.

Thanks! One last question. Our installer offered to water pop for free. We are going to go with the provincial. Will it just make the stain a bit darker overall and are there any drawbacks?

Water popping will give you the same results as the photos. Only drawback is if, the floor is not completely dry. You will get blotching in the stain.
