Clerestory Windows?

last modified: 3 years ago

Looking to add more light into master suite and open to suggestions. A designer recommended adding a transom-like window above current windows vs adding a skylight or two. Our home was built in the mid-1960s and we’ve noticed other homes in the neighborhood have clerestory windows so the thought of adding those has crossed out mind?

For reference, current wall with windows faces east. Exterior above current windows is wood board and batten rather than brick. North and south walls are brick. North wall has a window and full lite door overlooking our patio. South wall is near property line and in full view of our neighbors patio.

Also, we hope to add wood or wood beams to the ceiling for visual interest, depth, and warmth for the space.
