Personally I like it and think it goes well with the wall color.

Maybe wait to decide (runner and rug) until after you paint this summer, so if you decide to change you can tie in the paint color.

I like the current runner on stairs too. Its colors are neutral so should go well with most colors you might paint on walls. Don’t focus on the pattern of this rug when choosing a rug for entry but choose a color from runner to tie together. A smaller pattern or a texture for entry rug will work especially if the rugs aren’t right next to each other but are separated by stair railing.

It wasn't a daring choice on your part, but there are area rugs that can play nice with your selection.

Have you contacted the carpet store where you bought the runner? Do they make a broadloom carpet version that matches the runner that they could cut into an area rug for you for the foyer? To me, that would be the easiest solution and would pull the two spaces together.

@Sabrina Alfin Interiors The carpenter cut a piece of the runner for our front door and the landing right below the steps for our dog, but to me it's too "matchy matchy" for the front door and foyer

@Jilly I agree! I love traditional - I grew up in a very traditional home and it's comforting to me.

Just wanted to say that I think your runner looks really lovely. I think going with a lighter wall color will work just fine with the stair runner. I might try to pick up on the lighter shade in the runner for a rug in the entry. Something with a different scale of pattern if possible. I really like the vertically centered left choice that Beverly posted.

Karastan wool area rug for the entry? On my monitor, the gray melange looks good with your walls and great stair runner.
