Basement Theater & Bar Wall Treatments

My DH and I are having a disagreement about design choices for our theater room/dry bar in our basement. The TV and bar will be on the same wall. The bar will be about 8' and the TV theater wall is about 13'-14'. We will have about 4' in between.

I want to do a black slat wall behind the TV, and then black cabinets with a butcherblock counter and some sort of backsplash (TBD). DH thinks this is disjointed and thinks we need one cohesive wall. He wants to do the entire wall in faux brick.

What are your thoughts? Will the black slat wall & black cabinets with 4' or so of wall in between look OK?

In that case, I'd do the slat wall on the entire wall, not just behind the TV.

To clarify, is the bar going to be a wet bar with a sink or just a bar top with shelves above for bottles, etc?

Because if it's going to be a wet bar, I'm not sure I'd put a wood wall treatment where the sink is going.

It's a dry bar, but either way the wood wall would only go where the tv is. The bar in the wood wall scenario would have a tile backsplash.

Otherwise it would be an entire brick wall with brick backsplash.

brick reads cave in a basement. The black sounds GREAT! ... even SW Naval, it's a great clean dark navy.

So black slat wall behind black cabinets? Would that be overkill? Or would I need to choose a different cabinet color?

Just wanted to update everyone on the final product. We are really happy with how it turned out, and thanks to those of you who suggested running the slats the entire wall.

A note on the bar lights - they are smart lights and can be adjusted so we typically don't have them this bright (or necessarily this color) - it's jut the pic I have!
