I don’t have links for the photos I posted, but here are some similar looks. I’d place the baskets close to the seating for maximum impact, and try to keep them safe from rain.

Your beautiful home has the perfect spot for a portico or awning. These are not the correct styles but it gives you the idea. It would provide coverage

Any advice for furniture?

Love the ideas suggested so far. I have a question. Is your house number behind one of the shrubs? If it is would you be able to move it up under one of your outdoor lights? Perhaps two black urns or a matching pot to what you have with ferns could look nice flanking your door.

I don’t see any deck in front of your house. You mean the door stoop? It’s too small to hold much more than a flower pot.

I don’t think I’d go all colorful there. You have a dignified home that calls for sophistication. How about a tall fountain in front of the windows on the left?

Thanks littlebug. Yes unfortunately the pictures I took weren't the best. The front of the house consists or a long concrete porch or deck (not sure what it's called). I do have 2 large planters stationed by the front door but just wondered what else might go on either end by the windows. Never thought of a fountain before.

Well, these are a little out there but I think your house could pull them off. I'd like to see a much taller chair - like an egg chair or something tall and rounded and sheltered. Here's one from Walmart. They're actually really fun to sit in - I have an egg chair on my porch and it's the favorite

And I'd add some planters with tall greenery massed together, as here.

And speaking of planters, I think you could totally pull off a few of these mixed in. We stayed at a hotel that used them and they were darling filled with plants and flowers. They're from Grandin Road.

A small thing that might be impactful— on the two brick columns flanking your front door, I would place large but shallow planters on top (like two large bowls on top). In it I would mainly focus on ‘spiller’ annuals that flow down the sides, but maybe have something with a little more height in the center as well. Then coordinate with whatever you place in your tall planters next to the front door.

@rberesh73 Yes, the rattan chair is way too big & IMO totally the wrong style for your somewhat formal looking house. I don’t care for the egg chair suggested earlier either. IMO those belong on back lounging area. Looks like you have nice iron chairs & bench out there already, Why not add colorful seating cushions on all of them? Do you already have side tables to set drinks on - make an inviting spot to sit & gaze out over front? From your pic just posted it does appear you have blooming plants in the beds just below the half walls surrounding these seating areas. Someone suggested large shallow planters on top of the two brick columns flanking front door. I like that idea & I see that there are two more columns on each side up against house. I’d add the same or slightly taller planters on those two columns with taller flowering plants. These 4 planters would frame each of the 2 seating areas. Add your colorful cushions and voila! Inviting entry and places to sit. Beautiful home!

Ya geez I don’t know. I was overwhelmed by the size of the chair when I put it up but then I thought maybe I’m just not used to it. Figured I’d get feedback on here first before making a decision. I’m not good at it but a mock up would help

I agree - all wrong for your formal and dignified home. In the back of the house, on a patio - maybe. In the front - no.

I wouldn’t put any seating in the front, unless it’s very formal (expensive).

This may be too casual a look for your formal home, but I would love to sit in the shade on this porch.

@ffpalms I like the idea of adding an umbrella if this is a sunny spot. I’d thought about it but didn’t suggest it with my earlier post so I’m happy to see someone else thought of it too!

Just to add….If you are out on my front veranda/ porch there is absolutely no shade

Haven't read all the comments - I see my egg chair idea was not a fav. What I was thinking was to use the space on the right side of the door - as we're looking at it - for any furniture. I think I said, or I was thinking, the space on the left would be plants or a garden vibe.

I was thinking you could pull off whimsical chair on the far right side,but I may have been wrong. I deliberately chose a dark chair, fwiw and I did mean a tall chair. But anyway I agree, the wicker chair isn't right. Sorry to send you on a goose chase.

I think an umbrella is indeed too casual for your house front, although I think the impulse for shade, behind my "maybe an egg chair" is correct. A shaded garden seems to be what we're all thinking right back to the water feature suggestion. I was thinking your house would be enhanced by landscaping and a sense of shade, as in a french house landscaping interweb search.

Thanks barncatz. Oh well it was worth trying out! To be honest my main goal for the front is just to be decorative. Whether I get chairs or not chances are I won’t be out there. I just wanted to somehow bring a bit more life to the patio

@rberesh73 Well, there’s nothing like comfy seating and fabulous filled planters to add decor and life to either an entry or a patio, You have a lovely combo of both! If it’s a sunny location in afternoon, it looks like it’d be a lovely spot for morning coffee….

Lovely blooming flower beds in front of the brick half walls. I stand by my original suggestions - more flowering planters - specifically, 4 bowl shaped pots, one placed on each of the posts at the front & back ends of the half walls on each side. Fill with white alyssum & something blue or pink in centers to match the pots on either side of door. Colorful cushions on all the seating & a side table between the 2 chairs

Sorry rberesh but I don’t have the needed photo edits to be able to create a mock up for you. Maybe another poster will do that. But, here are some pics showing the kinds of bowl planters I’m meaning. The placement is those 3 pillars (I think there’s 3 on each side) at the corners of each of your front patios. If you don’t want that many planters I’d place them on the two that flank the entry way just behind the evergreen shrubs next to the walkway. They could be filled with seasonal & holiday plantings & would look great!
