I looked yesterday, and have tiny buds on R. primula. Usually, it starts blooming around May 1st, so even though we had a very cold March, it seems to be on schedule.

Aren't the early bloomers great!

Here are pics of my Safrano and its next door neighbor Madame Joseph Schwartz (white blooms - pink blooms on same plant are Duchesse de Brant - it "back sported!"). Usually both (all three) of these roses start blooming in Jan/Feb here, but we had nothing but deluging rain (cold storms) all of Jan and Feb and March, so they are bursting out now:

Lots of other flowers are bursting out too - here is the "neighborhood" of where S and DdB and MJS are living (they are in the background):

It is as if the garden is trying to catch up after having to wait the storms out.

Brandon - I did not mean to kidnap your thread - I watched your video, and it was so gorgeous, with all of not only the buds but the gorgeous new growth - the music makes it all perfect. It just made me want to share the only roses in my garden right now which are actually blooming (the others are all covered with buds).

Brandon, how thrilling! Watching your roses get ready for the big spring show is so exciting. I can't wait to see what they all look like in a week or two.

Spring has been a mixed blessing here. I'm happy to see how everyone else's roses are doing.
