I would place the sectional in the corner to provide you with fewer hurdles to jump over in the room and place the TV on the short wall that divides the kitchen.

The sectional is too big, and if it can go in another room do so, then get a small 2 seater sofa with an ottoman to kick your feet up. It just feels too tight. If there is another room for it, I might consider even not having a sofa in this area and opt for even 2 nice cozy chairs. Or might sound crazy but put the dining table in that area your literally boxed in!

Congrats on your new abode! For useful layout and purchase suggestions we need the floor plan (Draw it if you don’t have one) with dimensions, windows, doors, doorways, etc. also, dimensions of furniture you plan to keep.

Thanks for the feedback, very helpful. I’ve tried the sectional different directions and it doesn’t really work in the space. I moved it to another room to try there. I took new photos of the space open. I’m looking for ideas of what to do with this living space. Would like a TV somewhere in this space but not sure where it would work. I’m also posting measurements. Appreciate any advice :)

That might work, but I would think you might want see the tv from the kitchen if you are going to have one in the space. You said you had another room for the sofa, I would move it and opt into what I said two swivel chairs or a love seat.

Two ideas. 1 layout is to swap DR and LR but I don’t know if you have any windows on the wall where I put the TV. In this layout, you need to allow 3’ wide path to walk between bar stools sofa arm. Optimal distance from sofa to TV depends on TV screen size. 2nd layout is more transitional but I don’t know if there is 3’ feet on each side of DR table to be able to sit in dining room chairs and keep the bat stools.

How many people do you need to accommodate with the living room seating on a regular basis?

Good idea on swapping the dining and living room. There are cabinets and windows with shutters on the wall where you put the TV.

It looks like the best idea for placing the sectional is going to be flipping it to where the L shape is in front of the windows. You could then keep the TV and console in a similar place and things should feel less cramped. See how we placed this sectional in a clients home?
