I still think it could go either way. Right now it looks like an accent wall, if it were all black it would look a little more "separate". Neither is incorrect.

I would keep it the same for entire house.

Your question really depends on the mood you’re going for. Black trim would make the room be more adult, sophisticated, would make your floors the statement, and your eyes rest. At the moment the white is the focus of the room, and with the ceiling being white, the room looks like a box.

If you choose to keep the trim white, add some white drapes to break up the black in the middle and give your eyes somewhere else to rest other than the trim. Good luck with whatever you choose to do.

Beautiful home. I think you can go either way as well but I prefer the white. Especially when you give the full view shot. It makes the whole look cohesive.

I vote for black, no question. The whole point of this room is that it doesn't have continuity to the rest of your home. It is a bold, moody statement. The black walls meet with white walls, so who cares if the black baseboards meet with white baseboards?

The question should not be does a white baseboard look ok, but should I put a bold stripe around the bottom of the room. I find this bold white stripe really distracting as it draws my attention to the shape of the room as though you took a highlighter pen to it. Instead, I want my eye to feel enveloped in this bold dark room.

Keep it white so it doesn’t look like a black hole that the mock-ups showed. It then has continuity with the surrounding res and looks like it belongs. Maybe, put in a white desk, if budget allows to brighten the space and tie it into the surroundings.

Paint it black! If you hate it, it's only a few feet of trim that can be repainted! Make sure you use the same sheen as your other trim.

White is the way to go. Ties into the rest of the room nicely. As others have said, maybe a rug would help tie it all together. Or maybe a different light fixture - something metallic. Very nice room.

White! To keep continuity but like the others are suggesting get a blk & white carpet to ground the space. Good luck.

I agree to leave it white, and also agree with another poster who suggested a metallic-colored lamp, like gold or bronze. It would show up better against the black wall, plus you then don’t have to worry about the colour of the baseboards because your eye will definitely be looking up, at both the metallic-coloured lamp shade and the black wall behind it.

I would go with white. i agree with recommrecommendation to replace the chandelier with a gold o bronze fixtur… Do you have artwork for the walls? if so you could do picture lights abive the artwork in the same finish as the chandelier.

My vote is definitely for the white!!

White. Because the flooring plank direction is on the bias, and the room has a sloping ceiling, there is a visual spatial distortion that needs to be broken up by the baseboard. A horizontal visual break will keep this room from looking like the wacky house at the amusement park. P.S. Digging the rhino :)

Personally, i would have used a 6” baseboard and crown moulding to give the room a finished, clean look. Or, if you cant go with those adjustments, them definately add an accent wall for interest.

I like them white because it creates contrast between mild brown and black.

Also because it blens with ceiling and makes house cohesive by continuing the trim.

The big window offer lots of natural light…but view…not so much ..some sheers or see thru blinds could work here…even sheer burlap

If you work there at night …maybe privacy coverings would be better..just close at night ..one nice look is to add a valance that will hide the shades when they are pulled up…

As a fellow black walls person here, go with Black. It gives the room its personality and continues with the rest of your house because you have other black accents in those rooms.

I really like the black. The rug shines because it’s big fighting with white trim.

Kendrah nailed the reasons why and I think the mock ups sell it - black all the way. Drapes with some black and white hung to the ceiling and to the corners would be perfect.

100% paint it black. It will add to the drama and contrast nicely with the floor. The white looks like a distracting stripe. A more updated look is to do all the same color but you can do semi or gloss for the trim. I did this in a TV room in a house that I had a number of years ago and it was very dramatic.

White, the mock ups decided it for me. The trim works when you look at the adjoining spaces.

The rug works well but I still think white trim is the way to go.

White for sure and I would add a good size white cove moulding to finish off the room. The five woykd give it better definition.

Rooms are not dark because of dark walls. Rooms are too dark if there is inadequate layered lighting. A thin white strip at the floor will not lighten the room.

I just saw an episode on HGTV where all the rooms had white trim except one which made the room look forgotten about or too much of a hurry to do the white trim. Consistency best for a uniform look throughout.
