I agree with Patricia — it looks very nice! I don’t think bland at all. The trimwork looks great and everything is very cohesive.

Bringing in color and interest with landscaping will help with curb appeal.

It's pretty nice, and for once a garage on a newish house is receded. You do have planting space to trail a climbing plant--roses, wisteria--on a pergola over the garage and relocate one evergreen elsewhere.

I’d change the roof bit over the garage to match the other standing seam bits. And as others have said, punch up the landscaping.

I like the idea of an arbor over the garage doors. You could add some curvy planting beds on either side at the start of the driveway and an interesting ornamental tree out in the yard to the right of the entry.

You have a lovely home! My only suggestion is that right now, you have a pretty stock-standard garage door. You could always upgrade to a more simplified carriage style door (i.e. eliminate all of those squares!) but I'd likely stick with white.

Something like this (the first white one on the left) or this. It's not a huge change, but could make a difference.

Yes to landscaping, and I think putting a shallow “pergola” over the garage door will distract from the window above. Good luck!

Install the pergola over the windows

Sounds like you are sensing a need for (visual) balance. I agree with others that landscape could definitely help with your concern. Consider plantings away from the house, on the outer side of the walkway from driveway to front door, especially at the 90 degree angles of the walkway.

Your house is very pretty and I don’t think you necessarily need to add any more architectural interest, but if you wish to add a bit more detail over the garage, you could try a small shed roof over those double windows, finishing it off with your metal roofing material. I’d also suggest a carriage style garage door or add carriage style details to your current garage door. I am not a pro or an architect, by the way!

Your house looks great! Over all, it has lots of interest and a nice balance. You don't need to add any unnecessary details to the left.

I think beefier trim would help but you would need to do all windows the same…..so maybe too much $$$.

You got a lot of bad suggestions. I you add a little roof over the window over the garage, it will look funny unless you put them over all your windows. If you do that, the right part of your facade will look cluttered.

You're unlikely to be able to grow anything high enough to cover a pergola on the second floor. A plain pergola is going to look odd, if none of the other windows have them.

While pergolas with blooming roses look fantastic, they are actually not that great in reality. Unless you live in a climate with barely any winter, at least half of the year, you'll have bare branches, branches mostly bare will new leaves just forming in the spring or yellowing leaves falling off in the fall. Further, roses have thorns. You need to have a big plant with sturdy stems to cover a pergola over the garage, but you don't want any thorny stems or branches too close to the garage door or you'll get scratched as you get your groceries out of the back of your car.

Pictures are static. They are usually carefully framed ---note in the pic with the roses on a pergola over the garage the plant and its stems are cut out of the picture -- and at one point in time, ie when the roses are in bloom. While some bloom most of the summer, others bloom once for a few weeks, but no one is going to take a picture of bare stems. My college had a stone building covered with wisteria. When the wisteria was in bloom, it was so unbelievably gorgeous. In winter, when you saw a mass of bare trunk, it was pretty ugly --- far uglier than a plain stone building would have been.
