Euonymus clmbing an Evergreen (actually blue)

We have a blue evergreen planted in a berm that has a euonymus ground cover planted at it's feet. The pine is about 6 feet tall, the trunk is at most 3 inches in diameter. The euonymus has begun to creep up the trunk. About 4 feet right now. Will it hurt the pine?
