Thanks, everyone! It was actually planted by my cousin. She got it at a local nursery. Wow, Jaqueline, yours is so beautiful! I am green with envy!

We had to take it down off of our house because the Fire Dept thought it was a fire hazard, but luckily we have 2 others - one the bush version, and one much larger one with a shrub like habit that might be the "spray" version. Both of them are rooted cuttings of plants which were planted by my DH's great grandfather.

Here in the Pacific Northwest, 'Cecile Brunner' is typically recommended as the rose to plant if you wish to hide a barn.

And Paul . . . I have seen it in use for just that purpose.

It's used all over the place here to hide slump stone walls and likes the climate enough to "repeat" much of the warmer season. These are all Cl Cecile Brunner and represent only a fraction of them in town.

I have one growing over what used to be a large holly tree. Ahem.

It's just a scaffold/trellis now.
