Rug size issue.

Hello everyone, so I am here again 🤦‍♀️
Previously I had 5x7 rug for my living room and most people said that is small. So then I got 6x9. Now, the problem is circular design is not in the center of loveseat. So after back and forth I think I should get 2 colors rug without border and circular design in the middle. My sofa is beige/stone color. My decorative pillows will be beige and 2nd pillow will be maroon/burgundy color. Can you guys please post pictures of rug what would look good. Thank you.

Are you set on this rug? This is why I don't like medallions in the center. I prefer all over pattern.

Eld, no I am going to return both of them becauze of medallion in the center.
Please share all over pattern so I have the idea. Thanks

Can you take a photo from further back?

The sofas are too close together.

Can you switch the sofa and loveseat?

I think you are being too rigid in your placement of things and not making it fit proportionately in the space you have.

Two choices (coffee table is a must).

Look to complement your art and rugs that have a more random pattern are easier to work with.

Add complementary cushions and room will feel better balanced with coffee table, table/lamp in corner, a larger plant and something above the other couch.

Chispa, i am not being rigid. It's just I have small space with low and high walls 🤦‍♀️

Maureen, sorry I forgot to tell I will add new wall art. Removing above 👆. And no blue tones. Thanks

And yes will add coffee table and a side table. But need to decide on rug first please

Will get an accent chair as well

What is all that open space in the middle?

Height of the walls isn't something that needs to constrain your furniture arrangement in this space

Take a photo from left of dining room, looking at living area, plus area to right of loveseat.

Maybe have sofa and loveseat facing each other?

Drawing out a scaled floor plan of that whole first floor area might get you some better furniture layouts and use of the space.

Endless styles, really depends on your taste.

I’d get the coffee table first and tape out the smaller size. Your seating feels crammed into a small space and note reasons below for going small, especially with a dark rug.

Chispa, I asked in my other post before buying furniture that if 2 sofas would look good facing each other like in front of sliding door on the left and then 2nd right across, but everyone said no :(
Btw, I don't open that sliding door.

Chispa, open space in the middle to walk. There is a master bedroom on the right.

This is why one post is best. You are going to have to rehash all of the issues.

Maureen, what rug size do u suggest?

Btw guys, please see attached pic. from corner of sliding door to wall is 11 feet.

    Just took these pic.

We have a similar issue because of a corner fireplace. The rug can’t be moved out far enough to center a medallion because it would overlap the hearth. Here is our rug - still leans oriental in style but no medallion.

@abcd🤦‍♀️ that's a beautiful rug. I love oriental rug but seems like I can't have it 😞 even no border rug.

    My suggestion for size

Forgive my confusion, maybe I missed something, but why can’t you do a bigger rug and have it extend past the sitting area? You could tape off sizes to see what might work.

I’m not one who ascribes to the notion that everything has to be lined up perfectly and must be exact. A bigger rug would give the room a bigger feel. And in my view, it’s fine if a border or medallion isn’t completely lined up with everything like a ruler. But you might feel differently.

Have you said what your budget is?

The rug above is a beautiful and well-priced Karastan, very luxe look:

    Lovely colors:

Or if you love your rug, get a larger jute/sisal/seagrass rug to layer under it and use it as an accent rug.

Jilly, I don't want to past the sitting area...lol and i want completely lined up.

    Want to show more tiles

I totally understand! We like what we like. :)

As others said, I’d just keep looking for something with a pattern(s) that doesn’t need lining up, maybe even a solid color, or non-rectangular (such as cowhide, square rug, etc) … you’ll get there!

For more specific suggestions, what is your budget and do you have a material preference? Do you have kids, dogs, cats, etc?

Jilly, yes just 2-3 colors patterns. I bought this 6x9 rug from target for $125 so no more than this. I have a cat. That's why i covered the sofa and it's leather. But when guests come over i remove it.

I think that last pic is fine! It’s a pretty rug, I’d keep it like that.

Now get some pretty pillows. :)

Will be fine with a coffee table

Maureen, yes definitely will get a coffee and side table.

Now that I have rearranged I need to fill in corners. Can you please give me ideas how can I do it, especially right back corner. Thanks 😊

Now medallion is centered from both sides 😁

Guys, what do you guys think of decorative pillows?
