Increase the gage of the spring windings when you do replace that spring.

When our insulated double door spring broke, that's what I did.

Replaced ours with a side-mounted shaft-drive one by Lift Master. Very quiet and that is especially nice due to bedrooms above. Also frees space in the center of the garage.

I have nothing bad to say about the residentail lines of either any of the Chamberlain brands or Genie brand.

The comment about upsizing the springs for a torsion door, is flat out wrong (and to an extent for extension springs). The torsion springs are sized for the size and weight of the door, and increasing the recall can lead to problems that are unnecessary. The "gauge" of wire has to do with the number of coils, diameter, and length of the springs.

The garage door professional who installed that door spring had no problem with that replacement.

After 8 years that spring has given me no problems either.
