Same. I have a lot of stairs so I generally hang out of the higher windows. I can't say I am very meticulous about this task on the inside, even though the windows are often in a woeful state (dog-noses, filthy grandchildren), although the back of my kitchen is all glass and opens on the garden so I do make an effort there.

Years ago, in the 80s, I had a window cleaning round. On my bike - very lo-tech. I never found it enjoyable doing my own because of not getting paid.

How often do I clean them? Not often. And there is a local guy who specializes in cleaning windows for a very reasonable price, and I can't even get it together to get him here every couple of years.

Once a month sounds like an arbitrary goal that makes you beat yourself up on a monthly basis. I don’t clean mine in the winter. Too cold. I have my house and barn sprayed for bees, so always clean them afterwards. It just got done, so I need to clean them now. Then I’ll clean them on an as needed basis, no sooner than every 60 days.

The windows with outside screens I wash on occasion if I feel it needs it. More rarely do I clean those old screens, lol. The windows that do not have outside screens I never wash. Bird strikes are less when the windows are dirty.

at my house.. i have NEVER washed them.. if i want to look at the garden.. i go stand on the porch or the patio... front or back....

at moms Polish house.. she insisted we wash spring and fall.. while she did the interiors at the same time.. and dad took over when i left.. until he wasnt safe on the ladder .. and i had to help again ... it was in her genes.. to do spring and fall cleaning.. frankly. . its a mostly lost art ...

when i was in suburbia.. i used to hose off the windows for dirt and bugs whenever i seemed to notice them.. but never felt the need to go after them.. mostly because that house had aluminum storm/screens i never took down ...

i would never think to show my garden to guests.. thru a window.. i would have given them a rain slicker and dragged them out int he rain.. before we stood at a window.. and gazed out... all my garden guest knew better.. lol ..

i did make sure drain holes were open.. and did hose off the sill for dirt .. but never wiped down the windows.. though i do recall buying a squeegee once at the dollar store.. and had fun one time.. it got hard before the next year.. and it went in the garbage.. and i never washed a window again ...

btw.. window washing is where it helps.. that your foundation plants are not planted on the foundation.. so you can get a ladder in there.. to wash the windows... eh???

I always do a huge housecleaning in early November because I host Thanksgiving and I do them then.

I do them again in March when I do an enormous housecleaning in an attempt to get everything so clean that I can stay outside until fall- I just don't do a lot of housework during gardening season.

My windows are easy to clean as they all tilt in so I can do it from the inside. It's vital in this house as my kitchen faces southwest and that late afternoon/evening sun shows every smudge and speck and late afternoon is when I am in the kitchen most.

Twice a year for the outside, spring and fall, many more times for the inside. For many years, the inside windows had fingerprints from little children and needed weekly cleaning. Now the inside windows have nose prints from curious doggos, anxious to get a look at trespassing turkeys or squirrels; those windows get a weekly cleaning now also.

O window cleaning is definitely a thing in the UK. When I had a round, (1979-81) people used to get their windows done every 2 or 4 weeks. I was disdainful of squeegees - I used a chamois and polishing scrim. Carried my ladders on my bike, with buckets in the basket. I did it for almost 2 years (but hardly ever did a full, 5 day week).It took about 20 minutes to do a house (after a bit of practice).

A lot of the houses had bay windows...which were a swine to position the ladders so I could get to the bedroom windows, I did break a window on my first week (after a bay window fail). Had to bike to the glaziers and carry the pane home in my bike trailer, then clear up, putty and fitting before owner got home. Obviously, I couldn't do much about the shattered glass on her bedroom floor but she was forgiving...and paid for the cleaning.

I'm with Ken. I have cleaned the dog nose marks off the back door window, occasionally, but I go outside, if I want to see anything. If I am asked to clean windows, I'm so meticulous, it takes forever. But, it is satiafying, when it's done. But, I'd rather get up close and personal in the garden.

I'm with you mxk I like sparkling clean windows. I usually do them at least twice a year and it helps that most are casement windows. Yes most of the time I am out in the garden but when I look out at it through a window I want a clean clear picture.

I hire once a year. His price works out to $25 a window or I’d have it done more often. He does an amazing job and he’s so good looking:)

I usually have the windows done once or twice a year. I have the windows that tilt, but my husband and I are too old to be dealing with them. Due to Covid, they haven’t ben done in several years (not wanting people in the house.) This year they are getting cleaned! I have a company that comes to do the chore. Thank goodness!
