Height to place ceiling fan

Hi all. Would really love some advice on what height to place my ceiling fan. It's a very open concept living area with a vaulted ceiling (stacked townhouse condo) that get's ALOT of light (curtains have solved that) but the air is always stagnant. Hoping a ceiling fan will help get the air going and cool things down further as it still gets warm (south-east facing with large floor to ceiling windows). My goal is to try and circulate everywhere, including my upper left open concept den (tv room).

Here's the rundown (photos below):

  • I'll be replacing the existing chandelier with a 52" fan/light combo.
  • This is the fan I am going with (didn't go 60" in fear of clearance to the top den railing): https://lightscanada.ca/products/monte-carlo-fans-maverick-ceiling-fan-3mavr60bkbk
  • Store I bought it from recommended I mount it high up with a 3 ft downrod to circulate the air below and try and hit the upstairs area, but I am not sure if that's the best idea?
  • Should i mount it lower? Any other suggestions or feedback?

The distance from the floor to chandelier ceiling mounting point = 17ft

Ceiling slope as I have calculated it is 21 degrees

Thank you very much ahead of time for any assistance!
