dining chairs for the table

I got a new dining table but still looking for the chairs. I need an expertise in finding the perfect chairs for the table . I need something contemporary which goes with my open space plan. I have a kitchen and living right besides the dining room. Will appreciate if could get help in picking the perfect chairs and dining buffet cabinet . Sending a few pics for ideas. Have just bought a 2 dining chairs to get an idea of how it goes with the table, it’s a gray velvet chair with gold legs , but didn’t like the chair a lot. Any other suggestions ? Should I go with fabric or Leather ?

I would never use velvet in a DR and IMO that quilting looks like a make up chair . I need to see the rooms next to this one to get some clue as to colors , style etc. So post a couple more pics in a comment here do not start another post .

is the light fixture chrome or brass colored, is it staying?

are you finished with the window treatments?

the kitchen looks white and gray... where will you put the buffet cabinet you asked for?

The light fixture is chrome but I am changing that too. Just bought a new dining table , so redoing the dining area. The table legs are gold and the top is walnut color. The buffet will go in the corner at the window. The kitchen cabinets are gray all around and the island is dark blue. There will be a rug going underneath the dining table and chairs too. I hope this helps.

The buffet will go the corner marked.

May I know why there shouldn’t be any velvet chairs used in finding area ? Is it because it might stain easily or is it about aesthetics ?

Sorry , I mean in the dining area.

I love the look of these chairs from Target with your table. I would not crowd the room with a buffet under the windows. How about a small cabinet or bar cart under the artwork on the right?

I see black cabinets...bring in black for the dining chairs. Take a look at dining chairs from West Elm

Given the room is off your kitchen, you are replacing the light and adding a buffet, suggest stepping back and first decide on the overall look. Inspiration pictures would help in this regard and will make chair selection easier.

Thank you for all the comments . It’s really helpful . Here are a few more pictures of the area to get an idea of how is it connected with the living room and the kitchen. The island is Indigo batik from SW with granite top. And the color of the cabinets surrounding the kitchen are stonington gray from BM

The chairs seen are being temporary bought from the stores.

There is more room for a buffet than I thought, so forget the bar cart idea I suggested.

I think in your space you could pull out the stops and get some really exciting chairs..the table and the space are sleek so some really comfortable ..sizable …decorative chairs could be used here..to add charm and character to the room…and make the table an inviting spot for games ..cards..meetings..not just a place to eat

I would say the seating needs to be higher…high enough to cross your legs and rest your elbows on the table top…

Also I would try centering the table on the window..to be sure there is no congestion at what appears to be a sliding door? at the end of the table…

When the table is so convenient to the kitchen it doesn’t seem like a buffet is necessary…AND…the open space around the table will be more comfortable for sliding the chairs in and out..more “gracious” in effect
