Countertop

I’m leaning toward far left bottom (which is water popped) because it’s more neutral. The darkest one is nice but I don’t want it to compete with my countertop.

I'd clearcoat what you have.

lighter floor with Lifes dark will keep the space(s) fresh.

The problem with red oak is that it tends to look pink if it doesn't have a stain. The four on the left (top and bottom) look so much alike I can't really tell the difference between them, but one of them is probably the way to go. The island cabinetry is the tricky part. Any of the stains look fine with the white. I'm not even sure I like the blue-gray cabinet door with the counter material. Were you able to have them put your slab outside at least briefly so you could see it in natural light? The lighting in warehouses is rarely the same as what you have at home. Does the cabinet maker have a color that is either more blue or more gray? Something about the combination seems off. Of course if it looks better in person, no worrries.

top row far right looks good with the blue and the white. the problem is the counter and island color together isnt the best.....id say its okay if you really want it...... the background in the counter actually looks greenish and even more so with the ultra gray blue...maybe thats the goal....or maybe your lighting influences this. I would just pick which floor look I liked ...the counter isnt really busy....the top right is a gorgeous floor as its furthest away from yellow.....I'd pick that. PS: a darker [closer to navy blue] would work better for the island in my opinion. the man holding the blue vs the one laying on the ground look different from one another.....

heres a darker blue ..could be good w your counter and something like this floor.....I might go at least some bit darker on the blue.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts, I appreciate it! I considered clear coat but was advised against it because of the pink, as kandrewspa noted. I haven’t seen the slab in natural daylight but it doesn’t look green in person at all, must be the picture. Cabinets are already ordered and being delivered tomorrow, so too late to change them. As far as the floor, it seems there are wide ranging opinions and not a ton of hard and fast rules to follow and so I’ll just pick one and cross my fingers and hope it all works together! I’ll post the final result when it’s done in a couple of weeks.

Sure! It’s Jacobean from Bona. The bottom are all water-popped versions, top row are standard application.

Honestly i think any of them would likely look good - they all seem fairly mid-range and classic. Enjoy your new kitchen!

Since you are going to eventually restain the adjoining rooms to match the kitchen, you should also consider what will look good in those rooms.

All of the colors look fine, but I would lean toward one of the lighter tones. Maybe column 2.

Kempek that’s a really good point! I decided to go with the far left, it’s Bona Provincial. I figure it’s not too yellow, not too red, not too dark, and it’ll go with the rest of the house. That Jacobean (darkest one) is really nice, but other rooms in the house are smaller and get less natural light so Provincial felt like a good medium brown.

Very pretty! So many decisions and it can be paralyzing,but your space looks terrific and will really pop with the counter tops.
