I would set it up as a real working fireplace. Place a fireplace tool set on the hearth and some logs in a basket or bucket. Remove the plant and place that closer to your window. I would then just put one piece of art above the fireplace. I'm not sure a white mantel would look good. When I had a working fireplace, I had a stand I could put candles or tea lights on inside the firebox. The candles added a nice atmosphere without the work of a real fire.

I would paint or schmear that in a heartbeat.

Maybe it’s my phone, but it look s like the fireplace is pink but the walls are yellow.

The mirror, wreath and teeny candles aren’t working. Get a piece of art as long as the mantel but not as tall as the mirror. Chunky candles/candlesticks at least 12” tall.

I like the idea of fireplace tools on the hearth, whether it’s a working fireplace or not. Find another home for the plant.

I grew up in a home with that color of sandstone fireplace. !950s. My parents painted the room a light cream. Always. Not yellow or dark beige. The yellow is exaggerating the pink/salmon tones in your sandstone brick. The material used for the hearth can be found and replaced. I would not paint the sandstone. It is an emblem of MMM construction.

Have a carpenter build a wood famed box around mantle, whitewash or german schmear, accessorize hearth as a distraction from its large size and rethink accessories on mantel as well as wall above.

If you want a less rustic look, paint.

Do you actully use this FP? I hate corner FPs they were never good ideas and often when I arrange furniture with them I just pretend the FP does not exist.Is this wood or gas ? IMO the wall color is all wrong for the stone and I think the stone is the only good thing about the FP

The stone is nice! Change the wall paint to warm white

It would be super helpful to see different angles of your room in full.

I saw this one and it looks a lot like yours. This person had concrete fireplace and wrapped it all in wood and painted it.
