OMG, Kate………what a rotten bunch of problems. I guess my rabbit problem doesnt compare to a cow and those dastardly deer. I hope thats the end of all of that. Despite all of that you do have some lovely blooms today. Wild Cherry Wine looks lovely today. Diamond Shores and Colby Coventry are my favorites, gorgeous blooms.

Oh, no--what a shame! I have never heard of those bugs. I hope they don't come my way. Pansy Face Charmer, the last one (Is it Bullfrog Kisses?), and of course, Wild Cherry Wine are my favorites today.

I would like to think so too Sherry. I did another deer treatment this afternoon. I think our continued deluge of rain keeps diluting it. This will be the third treatment. I hated one of the clumps they ate was Deliverer. I had been watching it because it was tall with lots of buds. It bloomed yesterday with one bloom but I did not take a photo because I knew a clump shot was coming!! It had 12 scapes I think full of buds. It has two left with one coming up. And part of the buds on one of those scapes are gone.

Nancy, yes that is Bullfrog Kisses-I did go back to edit. Thank you for catching that. It is another freeze impacted one that only had two scapes with a grand total of three buds. I hope those bugs never invade you either. They can decimate a garden in just a few days. They pierce the small buds which then turn brown and fall off. They are small so you may not even notice them.

I looked up those bugs (Lopedia) so I know what to look out for. The warmer areas of this country sure have a lot of bad bugs........I'm so sorry about the damage to so many of your daylilies. Will any of them rebloom do you think?...........My favorite of this group is Pansy Face Charmer. It really is that - a charmer...... Colonel Jim is a real pretty red and Wild Cherry Wine is one I've owned/liked forever it seems...............Maryl

Those are some lovely blooms Kate. Sorry to hear you are having a tough season. Hope at least reblooms will make up for the loss. No scapes that I can see here yet. Glad since we had a frost watch the other night which is unusual for this time of the year here. The only bug mess I've seen so far is those spittlebugs.

You've some real beauties posted. I really love Wild Cherry Wine--such a gorgeous color and great bloom style. Diamond Shores and Colby Coventry are also quite pretty.

Colby Coventry definitely catches my eye. I see it is a Maryott. Is this the March freeze you are talking about?

Good grief! I cannot believe how much havoc one person is having in their garden! A cow??? you deserve a few steaks at least out of that. And the stinking deer are back? That is awful! and then those red bugs have returned? What kills them, do you know? Surely something will. And of course that mean late freeze was a killer and shortened so many scapes and deleted a lot too.

You do have some beauties today and I am glad that Wild Cherry Wine is doing well. Thomas Tew is a lovely clump. Pansy /faced Charmer is indeed charming and I have some of those (Intelligent Design especially) that are hugging low space. I like Colby Coventry: pretty purple on that one. And, Bullfrog Kisses was stingy here too. I have a lot of new ones and they help make up for some old loves not doing so well, but I haven't had your other horrible issues. Pretty post, Kate and there is always rebloom to help.

A cow, deer and red bugs!!! That's just heartbreaking. I know what you mean about those red bugs destroying entire clumps. I had them in one of my raised beds four or five years ago, and I used Captain Jack's Dead Bug on them. Luckily they haven't returned. Do you think the rains washed your Bobbex off the plants? I'm using two products for deer/rabbit/groundhog prevention this year: Deer Out, which has more oil in it than Bobbex or Deer Fence, and Repels All granules. I haven't had deer visit yet, but either a rabbit or my resident groundhog has chomped scapes on two of my seedlings and several plantings of Bubblegum Queen. I hope midseason will treat you kinder.

Despite your woes, you have lots of gorgeous blooms. Wild Cherry Wine is so pretty. If it weren't a diploid I would have added that one long ago. Colby Coventry looks so perfect, and the clump of Thomas Tew is a stunner. All that green on Diamond Shores makes it a winner.

Debra, we have had so many rains back to back to back that I do think the soray is just getting washed off. I have also put out granules as well. A friend recenly counted 10 in her yard. I am going to need to stay on this as the are so prolific.

I am glad you were able to get rid of your bugs. They are here every year but boy have they come in droves this year.

Your Thomas Tew has performed so well in the past. Scapes with only three buds--shows how much a late freeze can affect blooming down the road.

It is amazing how many scapes never showed up. Even Kay who is farther south than I am, mentioned that. I was shocked at the number of plants that usually have 8, 10, 12 scapes only put up 1 or 2. And I have found many plants with none.
