I would get a marine varnish if you are concerned about yellowing. It is expensive, but stands up to high moisture environments and has uv inhibitors in it to stop it from yellowing. Your door might not be subjected to that harsh of an environment, but for the cost of a quart to do your door, I would think it might be worth it.

So we are talking about something like this (but a quart)? Will it bring out the natural color of the wood as well?

I would use the McCloskeys Man-O-War Spar marine Varnish here.

I would use oil base poly, if yellowing was not a factor. Actually, I like the yellowing, so its definitely what I would use.

Some of the wood is lighter and some darker since it’s been exposed during construction, do y’all think it will even out if we use a clear penetrating oils seal? Or do you have to stain it or condition it somehow before sealing. Maybe a semi-transparent or something like that?

Basically I am just looking to get a beautiful natural lighter look to the wood and not mess it up!

Clearly I don’t know what I am doing and if there is a product you think would be best.

If you go clear, will the wood get grey over time? It inside but a lot of sun. We don’t want that, so maybe a little yellow is good?

I went to the store and wow lots of options, so would either of these work? Does it have to say penetrating on the can? Our GC has mentioned a clear “penetrating” oil sealer is what he would use.

I did but could not find in the store, is this too much for the interior wood? If this different than a oil based penetrating sealer? How does it affect the color of the wood, you think it will hold the natural color (stop from greying and fading)?

Can that Marin Varnish (or other varnishes) be put on top of wood that has had watco natural danish oil applied to it?

Is the Danish oil in good condition? If so should not be an issue as long as it is clean and dry.
