Some Winners from the Seedling Beds

Bubblegum Queen's babies are starting to bloom, and so far I'm happy with the results.


Judy's Jewel x Bubblegum Queen #1 - This one had its ffe yesterday. It has a big 8-inch bloom that looks a lot like BQ, except BQ has a white edge and this seedling has a gold one. The petals are a bit rounder than BQ.



American Doll X Bubblegum Queen #1 - The photo does not capture how neon looking the deep pink petals and the green throat are. The flower on this one is in the 6 inch range. I thought this one was so special, I dragged my husband out of the house to see it.


Core Values X Bowtie Affair - This year's blooms are 7 inches. Last year they were 6 inches.

White Tooth X Skater 3R - Second year to bloom. The teeth will get bigger when the night temps are highter.

      Absolutely love White Tooth X Skater 3R. what a stand out! Core Values X Bowtie Affair is a beauty. Both the pinks are gorgeous. Not a stinker in the bunch!

      Kay - I'm glad you like White Tooth x Skater 3R. It's a fast multiplier. Last year it had scapes about 28 inches tall, but this year the scapes are only 22 inches. I assume that's weather related.

      I agree-that White Tooth serdling is stunning. But the pinks are gorgeous!! I am not surprised there was dragging going on!!

      Both of the pinks are outstanding. I am a fan of Bud Bennett pinks, but those two would have a place in my garden. The WHITE TOOTH seedling also looks very good.

      Great seedlings again but the American Doll X did it for me. I will be looking forward to seeing more of it this season.

      Thanks everyone for the comments! I'm surprised so many of you mentioned the White Tooth seedling as a favorite.


      Sherry - I doubt that I will be posting another picture of that particular American Doll seedling - unless it has multiple blooms or looks a lot different when the temps hit the 90s. Or if it reblooms later when I don't have a lot of other things blooming. I have four seedlings from that cross, and two out of the remaining three have scapes. I'm looking forward to seeing whether the others can equal or best this first one.


      Kate - My husband is not that mobile without his cane these days, so you know I think it's extra special when dragging is involved. He enjoyed seeing that one, as well as some other seedlings today.


      David - As a lover of pink daylilies, I appreciate your opinion!


      Nan - The dark purple one sure was pretty today after a night in the 50s. We'll see how it looks with warmer nights.

      You have some fantastic pinks, but every one looks like a winner to me! That 1st one, an 8" bloom with that wonderful color is just amazing.

      Mantis - Yes, it is exciting to see BQ's babies. Last year I had two to bloom, and this year I should have about a dozen.
