What’s up with Blue Ivory?

I have had BI for many years. Never had it do this:

The discoloration is on several leaves. Anyone know why?

Mine did that too with some years having more misted leaves.

Please, oh, please forgive me for using an unscientific term "misting". Sure looks like someone misted them to me.

At the HL, I found in the description for Blue Ivory the term a green "blush" in the margins.

Now I'm blushing!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Whatever you wish to call it, I have it occasionally on El Nino, Blue Ivory and Great Escape. I have it on some of their leaves right now. I've had El Nino since 2003 so it isn't a question of maturity, and here it is today, so it isn't a question of Summer heat or sun for me. Just the variation in the leaves.

The HL data base for Allegan Fog uses the term "misted" and in that hosta it is not transient, so I haven't gone completely bannanas.

My Blue Ivory is "misting" too. Mine is young though, I purchased it as a plug last year. Maybe it was the type of spring? Last time I looked at it there wasn't any non-misted leaves and now there are some "normal leaves so maybe the leaves need to mature more?

Debra, I have both 'Blue Ivory' and 'Firn Line' and they behave the same, just have a peek.

Here they are, one behind the other and in case you wonder 'Blue Ivory' is the lower placed one.

debra..I don’t have ’Blue Ivory’..my ’Firn Line’ has ”misted/blushed” (just like Pieter’s)..when I did a post about it undertheoaksgardener explained what happened..I was relieved to know that it wasn’t a disease..
