Favorite blanket?

We have a plush fleece blanket that we like but the darn thing travels during the night and ends up hanging way over the side of the bed. It varies which side it ends up on. We currently have a light weight decorative comforter that is at our feet , maybe our hips. The blanket and sheet may end up over our shoulders.

This blanket is pretty and soft but a PITA. What type of blanket do you use and like? I would probably be happy with a good old woven thermal one from the past but not sure they still make those. I did see some cotton ones but people complained of the shrinkage.

Tell me what works for you!

I'd like to know as well. I have a medium-weight tightly woven cotton one that I purchased years ago when Eddie Bauer sold bedding. I've never been able to find one that's even remotely as nice.

Lightweight comforter (down alternative from the Company Store) in a duvet cover.

We have an all seasons down comforter in duvet on our bed. Pointing out this is coastal Washington and little extreme weather. I do have a blanket cover in a lightweight matelasse that I occasionally like for looks and ease in making the bed - I don't think I got it out last year but might use it this summer.

If I need a blanket to add under the comforter in winter or use under the lightweight blanket cover and top sheet (seldom) summer, I have both Ralph Lauren and Matouk woven cotton blankets. They are very nice, no issues with them but bedding is one place I don't skimp. I don't use synthetics anyplace on beds, so no fleece. I don't like the feel of fleece in clothing even against my skin, will occasionally wear one of DH's fleece outershirts if I get chilly outdoors - but it can't touch my bare skin ;)

(I believe Ralph Lauren makes more than one quality grade in clothing and bedding. I'm talking Macy's stock, or Bloomingdales where they often have deep discounts in higher quality sheets and blankets)

Wool blanket in the winter, cotton in the summer. We have a queen bed, and the key is to get a blanket that comes in that size, not a Full/Queen, which is inevitably too small. Both blankets I have are from The Company Store.

Silly question maybe, but do you tuck it in with hospital corners like a sheet at the foot of the bed?

@cyn427 (z. 7, N. VA) Yes as a nurse, the bed is made with hospital corners. The problems is that itis wide and the top migrates almost to the floor. It's just silky and slinky enough that it slips on the sheets.

Looks something like these do. Pretty, has a mind of it's own.

I have a puffy plush fleece blanket that's very soft and warm and doesn't slip - IIRC it's from Macy's.

We use a sheet and a down comforter, all year round. We used to have a blanket, too, but prefer without it.

It's rarely cold enough for a blanket here, but when it is, I have a heavy linen blanket that I use. Years ago, I bought my parents a cashmere blanket that they love because it is lightweight but very warm.

We have a cotton thermal weave blanket for summer from Company Store. it is a king size and very generous. We like sleeping in a cool room in both summer and winter. In winter we switch to a quilt. We’re in the south.

I like Faribault Mills, Pure and Simple Wool Blankets. They arent too heavy, they wash well.

We use a cotton covered down comforter or a cotton quilt in the summer - no blankets and nothing smooth and slippery.

I use a down comforter in a duvet cover during the coldest weather, a down blanket (a very thin down filled quilt like blanket) inside the duvet cover during the cooler spring and fall, then the down blanket without the duvet cover in the warmest months. My room cools off a lot, even on our hottest days, so I seldom sleep without a blanket. It is cotton covered and doesn't slide.

We have 100% cotton woven blankets on all of our beds. I'm in the process of buying new bedding for two queen size beds and I'll buy woven cotton with a texture - baffle weave, diamond, basket etc. I don't have a problem with the sheets or blanket shifting. Maybe the texture helps them stay in place. Some of the blankets that are currently on our beds are easily over 10 years old and have been laundered many times - in warm water and medium heat in the dryer. They were probably bought at Macy's, Marshall's or The Company Store. It's interesting to read the care instructions for most of these new blankets that I'm looking at - machine wash cold and tumble dry low.

DH sleeps hot and doesn't care for the down alternative comforter that I bought from The Company Store.

Ours look very much like these:

I do have a fleece blanket like you show. I use it during the day as a throw...if I'm sitting...reading a book. It's so soft and plush! Flannel sheets are still on the bed here in Colorado. Then a poly fill botanical comforter. In other bedrooms we have down comforters.

I am looking for a cotton one I believe. We got rid of a looser weave one that had many pulls in it a few years ago, Replaced it with the current one. So many of the cotton ones got bad reviews about shrinking, I'm leery to buy one. The one Macy's one looks nice and has good reviews, minimal shrinkage is even mentioned in the copy. I may just watch for it to go on sale.

I have a woven cotton throw like maire-cate posted. I got mine at The Company Store. I really like it but it snags/pulls very easily. It might be fine without cats. I have three cats that love the throw.

Coincidentally ordered a cotton weave blanket from Company Store earlier today. They were on sale plus an additional discount with summer23 code.

We have this coverlet. We were in the Annie Selke store in Lenox, MA a few yeas ago. Felt it and had to have it. It's over $100 more now than what I paid back then. Yikes. But it's wonderful. Doesn't move on the bed at night. Washes well. I can highly recommend.

On top of that we have a down comforter in a linen duvet and it is always on one side of the bed or the other leaving one person naked! Drives me crazy.
