It’s really just personal preference, no right or wrong. Either way could look and work fine.

My preference, how I have mine currently, is going past my entry wall. Mainly because I wanted to use a rug I like and already had, but it works well for us.

If you prefer a more minimal look, one fitting inside the entry only might be best.

I think it ought to go from the door to the stairs.

And I agree with @Jilly! Personal preference. That end of the shorter wall is a natural stopping point but doesn’t have to be. What I might not do is have a longer runner that stops far short of that veering off wall because then you have 3 points to catch the eye. 1. where runner stops, 2 where wall stops & 3 where stairs start. If you have a short rug then I’d fill the space width wise & stop at the point where door in hall close to entry door starts. Do Pups have an opinion? They seem pretty interested in what you’re doing! 😁

Either way works and that is good news, because runners come in standard lengths.

What is the with of hall? What is the length to where wall begins to angle? What is the length from front door to stairway?

I would not go past the wall.

@CDR Design, LLC The wall is 5'3'' wide. It's 9' from the door to the corner and 12'3'' from door to stairs.

Velcro pups indeed! They keep their food source in full view at all times I bet. My pup does that too & I’m sure that’s the reason… Now having time to think on your question & reading the replies I changed my mind. I agree about going full length to stairs & I think with 12’ + that’s very doable. That full length will create a long & clean look - nothing choppy. So, although shorter lengths certainly work, the full length is best & that’s my vote!

One long runner is especially good with puppies. Harder for them to slide around! Longer the better!

Live Home 3d Pro for Mac is what this is done in. Yes, you can use rugsusa but keep in mind you need to size it correctly.

Make sure your hall rug works with the other colors and style of your home. It sets the tone.

You can use blue or frog green painter tape to tape out size you want then measure that and we can help you find perfect solution.
