you water when a plant needs water.. insert finger and find out..

keep in mind.. you should check .. in this case.. a corm or root depth... not just looking at the surface ...

btw.. in our cold winter location.. glads are dig them up and store them annuals...

but down south.. they are treated more as perennials... so next time.. you might want to add that forum.. to find more glad friends...

I'll insert a finger near a bulb and water it if it's dry. I'd heard once not to water the corms, as they supposedly had everything they needed until the foliage appeared. It doesn't sound like that's the case though. Any fear of over-watering? I don't want to sog them out.

Concerning digging them up in the fall...it get's pretty cold in my local. 10-20 degrees is average in the dead of winter, but it can easily get -20 to -30. So, it sounds like I'm in the annual group!

They have all the nutrition they need to grow, but not water. And yes, dig them up and replant in spring.
