How tall is Purple Sails? I can see why Reimer's daylilies are becoming more popular. I hope you can get the deer predation in control. While repellent is expensive, buying in bulk can lower the cost. I buy gallons of concentrate at a time. It is becoming apparent here too that bud count is low on many cultivars, though there are lots of scapes forming.

Mantis, Purple Sails is registered at 28 inches and that is about what it is in my garden. I wish it was taller because these blooms are huge. I also have Flying Fox but it has not put up any scapes yet so I don’t know if I will see it this year. Is your bud count freeze or heat related?

Purple Sails is beautiful! Love those big blooms. And both dragons, the Lady and the Blackberry look great. I had looked at Miller time and it likes like a typical Gossard winner. Beautiful! Uncle Sams Cut is such a good bloomer and puts on a lot of pretty clump shows Tall Dark Stranger is a very attractive clump. Your Green Rainbow and Mr. Butters both look great and a plant that produces like Enter Laughing is a true winner. No bugs please! That is awful. I need to come over to Mississippi this winter and help you gather and destroy all the daylily debris and get rid of those monsters. What a year and beautiful plants to cheer you. I am glad Blue Dolphin is finally behaving for you. It is such a pretty one.

Thanks for the picture.........I like all your daylilies and am always interested on how the Reimer's are doing for you, but my personal favorite of this batch is Miss Butters. Losing 75 percent of your daylily bloom is horrific. But your clumps look glorious and happy. They are all so pretty, I can't pick a clump favorite. Of the ones with one or two blooms, Lady Dragon is my number one.

Purple Sails and Lady Dragon are my faves in this bunch. Also like Two Sues and Blackberry Dragon.

It's too early to evaluate the full extent of this season's woes. One example: Aerial Applique has low bud count and bud drop. The bud drop is probably due to the heat (last few days, though, have been pleasant) and dryness, but low bud count may be because of the winter (and spring) extremes.

Such lovely photos Kate! Green Rainbow caught my eye today, such a great performance. so sad to hear about the plant loss this season…..those awful bugs. From what i see here so far from the few emerging scapes, its notgoing to be good. we are officially experiencing drought conditions and recent health concerns kept me from watering 😏

Maryl, I often have nightmares about those bugs too! I have been pleased with the Reimers I have and may even get more. I love their big flat round look.

Debra, I do miss seeing a lot of favorites this year. I have nothing left in my back yard so am relying on my big front bed and the extension to my roadside bed for blooms.

Brad, yes, I have used Sevin and some other recommended sprays. The infestation hit so hard and so fast and apparently they do cycle every couple of weeks. Once here in these numbers they are hard to control.

Your 25% is simply gorgeous! I am still in a pink/purple haze, I love especially Uncle Sam's Cut and Purple Sails. I am so envious of your Tall Dark Stranger. Mine is not tall at all this year, barely above the foliage. I must have lost half the fans last year. I remember thinking it was in need of division. This year I have 6 fans that have produced 2 scapes with about 11 buds between them. Flowers are looking pretty at least. Nasty bugs, apparently they laughed at the cold winter. So sorry about your crop loss though. Can you claim a tax loss? We value your pictures here greatly.

Wow--75% damaged is an horrid number. It's bad enough with drought and bad winters and deer, but to have to contend with those awful bugs as well. I have never seen them here and I hope it stays that way.

Your flowers pictured are beautiful. I especially like Two Sues (love the watermark) and Blackberry Dragon (such rich dark color). I also like Uncle Sam's Cut.
