I just purchased wool carpeting for my bedroom. I was amazed at how many options and colors there are. For your living room which seems bright and airy, I would consider some wool carpeting in a warm beige tone, but also one which has some other specks of color within it. If you cannot afford wool - it can be pricey - you could get a lighter shade berber with a combination of colors like tans and grays, and specks of a darker color here and there. These colors don't really stand out but rather add a dimension. Your tile is not just beige. It looks like it has some dark tones within it. If you got a carpet that was completely solid it would make your tile stand out whereas if you got a carpet with an interesting texture and color both floors would be more cohesive, and look like you planned it that way. And, if your carpet and tile are on the lighter side, this would be an opportunity to paint your walls - or just one wall - a darker dramatic color from a neutral palette.

A similar-toned wood floor would look nice. I personally think that if you arent going to rip out the tile, you must work with it. forget the gray…. Try to work with the tones you have (soft beige/warm). The tile is really nice.

There are a number of issues to address in this room:

IMO you're going to have problems with not addressing the total flooring area.

Walls in the living room are too yellow at present.

1. Either match the existing tile and use it throughout the room
2. Contrast the tile with a wood floor or porcelain wood look floor
3. Replace all the tile with something new.

I would try to steer away from gray flooring and look at a light, warm color wood or wood-look tile. It will help all th me flooring to blend. I would be afraid that grey tones in new flooring would just emphasized the orange/gold tones in the tile. Maybe a a very light oak finish would work better?

Debpicks I like lighter tones much better than dark, but I am a little afraid that the contrast might not look good? On the other hand going darker beige or brown might just blend in with existing tile.

If it were me, Id want the new flooring to visually blend with the tile: let it be a neutral backdrop to your furnishings and art. Carpet or wood plank are the direction I would go.

This color LVP for the whole area..doesn’t show soil…very easy to maintain..to install …nice to walk on

If that were my home, my top choice would be site-finished white oak, in a medium brown color. It is classic and will go with any decor you have now or in the future. Second choice engineered wood, third LVP and fourth tile. Whatever material you choose, I would avoid any gray which will not work well with the tile in the hallway and limits your choices for decor. Having tile next to tile would not look great, that's why I listed it fourth.
