The two options you posted look almost identical on my monitor.

Would you consider a darker brown? Medium neutral brown, like Special Walnut would look great with white cabinets--actually that's what I chose and I love it.

Make sure a sealer is used under both products for a proper representation. The sealer will help prevent tannin pulls. Make sure the TDS is read and followed.

Agree that the difference is very slight. I don’t think the lighter one is trendier than the one on the left. It seems to have less variation (I assume that’s just the clear coat?). For a traditional home, I would usually say a more medium to dark value floor is better, but if you don’t want darker, just pick whichever one you do like.

I prefer the left since its warmer and seems like it fits with traditional better but i think both are lovely (and agree i’d prefer either over a medium brown!).

I think the one on the right just looks flat and lifeless, but the left has warmth and dimension. The style of your flooring is traditional with the strip, your home is traditional. The raw white oak look is very trendy, and I just don’t think it is always the right choice and brings out the beauty of the wood. A medium brown stain would be easier to get uniform in a refinish, but I can understand you preferring a lighter floor. So, if lighter is your preference, I would go with the choice on the left.

Thank you rtpaige for a well thought out response. While I do like the look of raw oak- my gut tells me it doesn’t really belong in my house.
