Beautiful post, Debra! I Miss my Perseus Sandals X Jumping Jack Flash but it had a great first year. Clown Parade is always a favorite, And Sensational Heart Has really multiplied great in three years; It looks good. I like Spacecoast Irish Illumination, and Watermelon Summer
is so pretty with such crisp color divisions. Really a good one. Such A Blaze is a gorgeous red. Of the three last seedlings , I prefer the colors of the first, but the form of the third but all three are lovely. Beautiful post!

The last queen seems to have incipient teeth! I usually don't care for a lot of recurve in segments, but in this case, the rolled-back form highlights the edge. Bubblegum Queen seems to be a good breeder. Fancy Lace is indeed sensationally ruffled, and the light yellow/cream color I find very appealing. I see there are some reports that it is slower to multiply, which is probably why a 2008 intro hasn't been more widely distributed.

Fancy Lace is a stunner. I love all the ruffles and lace on it. Such a Blaze is such a red! The seedlings are all looking exceptional. The Bubblegum Queen seedlings all look so good. All winners in this post!

Mantis - I wanted Fancy Lace for several years, and finally found Floyd Boatwright was selling it. I think so many of the people who originally bought it used it for hybridizing and never sold it. Mine seems to multiply OK. Its gone from two to four fans in three years, one of them a drought year. The "last queen" may have a few teeth here and there. So does Bubblegum Queen. I crossed BQ with Maney Augustine trying to get a gigantic bitone with pink teeth. Those two just bloomed, one with no edge and the other with just a small white edge.

Kate - Fancy Lace seems to develop more and more ruffles the longer the sun shines on it. Such A Blaze has such a face, but the legs leave something to be desired.

Wow, I agree with you on Fancy Lace. I really like all four seedlings, and hope every one of them makes it! And Such a Blaze is, well, ablaze! Love its brightness.

I'm all for ruffles, so you know I like the form of Fancy Face.....Such a Blaze is a pretty red color and its hard to find fault. I prefer white edges on the darker colors usually, but small potatoes really........Your last rose pink seedling looks promising. Sounds like an acceptable bud count in my book...............Maryl

Brad and Maryl - Such A Blaze is ablaze and it's sunfast into the high 90s. Where I have it planted, it does get the registered height. I guess I need to move it to the front of a border. I'm very happy with Fancy Lace and put its pollen on a lot of things today.

Fancy Lace is glorious! I also like Such a Blaze and Watermelon Summer. Your seedlings are beautiful. You know I have a soft spot for the pink ones.

Thanks Nan! There are a lot of intros out of Fancy Lace, so I hope I can get a few good seedlings from it. I think everyone should have a soft spot for the pinks.

FANCY LACE is my kind of daylily. WOW! It appears to be generally flat with all of those ruffles. I would be spreading pollen everywhere. SUCH A BLAZE is a looker. Love the halo and gold edge. Of the two JJ x BQ seedlings, I prefer the second one. I guess I am on a cerise color kick. I like the deeper color and I do like the little teeth. All of them look great!

It is good to hear that your ruffled babies are opening well on these cool mornings. Sometimes its the great habits that make a daylily great.

I was just about to ask you have Fancy Lace does for you, and see you answered me already. I got it a couple years ago, 2 fans, had never seen it before. It bloomed last year, but I lost one of the fans overwinter, so I was worrying maybe it is too cold sensitive. The remaining fan looks really good, but no bloom yet. Love Watermelon Summer, Tides Roll In X All Things to All Men, both your Bubblegum Queen seedling, esp the 2nd I think.

Nancy - Fancy Lace did not seem cold sensitive here, and it multiplied in fans since last year, unlike most of my daylilies. I did have it mulched well last fall. I would think if it was cold sensitive, it would have had short scapes like most here, but its scapes are actually a little taller than registered. It has bud counts in the mid-teens.

Sherry - Sensational Heart does have fantastic plant habits, BUT the bloom fades badly by early afternoon. For that reason I would not recommend it for most people, As a hybridizer, I'm hoping to put a sunfast face like that of Such A Blaze on seedlings from it. It's a means to an end for me. When and if I get good seedlings from it, I'll move it out of the garden. It is something to behold in the early morning though.

Mantis - In looking at your comment again, I see you call Fancy Lace a light yellow/cream. Your monitor must be adding the yellow. No yellow was visible with the naked eye or in the photo on my monitor. It is a near white.
