Small console table or cabinet topped with a minimal pairing of a vertical and horizontal decor, with a either an arched or scalloped mirror above it…all in different finishes…to fill the space opposite the front door.

You could also keep the plants there instead of having a console table, but you do need a strong vertical element over them. I don't know if I would like to be looking in a mirror immediately upon entering. I think I would choose art here. Usually mirrors are placed perpendicular to the opening. In your case, the door swing makes that impractical.

You could try a tall painting, a small bench, & a pillow:

Think about the function of the space. Do you need a drop zone for keys, etc? If so a console table with a small basket is great. Do you need more storage? If so, a small dresser with drawers for hats, gloves, dog leash, etc. is great. Either way some nice art above it would help draw the eye up. I like to have a lamp in the entry, but I don’t see any outlets. Plants are too low by themselves. Need something to draw the eyes up also.

Put in a small console table with a large piece of art on the wall above it.
