I know you didn't ask, but trimming way back or redoing landscaping will go a very long way to enhance your curb appeal. Also, if you want to keep your shutters, consider a tall narrow bush/tree/vine between the 2 windows on the right to cover up the awkward area where the 2 middle ones meet.

You could consider a green door. We painted our new front door (inside and out) with Behr, color: Baby Spinach. I got my inspiration for a bright green door from watching the British series: All Creatures Great and Small. My first picture is their green kitchen door. I was stationed at Lakenheath Air Force Base, England (I am a retired US Air Force Captain), and lots of the entry doors in England are painted a bright color.

I like the coral and love that green!   I was thinking baby/powder blue but I think I need something brighter and more fun.  I saw a BM color called Santa Monica blue which is really pretty?  But maybe not different enough. 

I'd love more opinions on landscaping.  I haven't done too much (it's been a busy 10 years since I moved in), but would you recommend trimming back all the front bushes (the big ones)?  I never noticed that those 2 shutters on the right are so close.  What could break that up?

I agree that better landscaping is a worthwhile investment. You've got a very nice walkway and very nice stairs already and that's the more expensive part. Getting your plants into shape will kick your curb appeal up several more notches.

You may want to post on the landscaping forum. There are several talented people there who can tell you whether it will work to just trim everything back or what should come out, etc..

As far as color, you can go in almost any direction you want. I love the coral - it seems to tie in nicely to your pavers. However you could go into any number of reds, and some greens would work nicely too.

Hey! Your house is so cute and we actually have recommended the white siding + gray shingles combination to a lot of our renovation clients. It has a classic, simple look to it. However, I think by trying to do a bright color on the door, you're trying to force something that isn't there. Your house would look awesome if you just kept it simple, by painting the door either a lighter gray than the roof, white, or a light gray with a blue or purple undertone (not blue or purple, just an undertone). You'd be surprised at how calming and versatile your exterior will look with something more traditional.

I like the storm door to be painted the same color as the door so you get the full effect of the color. Right now with the white door cuts off the turquoise door especially the windows and makes it look smaller

Thanks for the additional comments/suggestions.  I love my Cape cod style house, particularly because I live in Cape Cod lol!   

I'm trying to keep the color appropriate to where I live (hence the blues...).  I'm torn between something muted and calming versus another pop of color.   

As for the landscaping I'm going to get my husband and dad to trim things back.  And then mulch.  And when that's done I'll post on the landscaping form and see what some of the experts there have to say!

Oh, my you have so many options with your very neutral elements. That Santa Monica Blue is beautiful. You could also go softer blue/green or a bright marigold would look gorgeous.

Lina, about your landscaping - great plan to trim those 2 shrubs on left & then assess. The tallest plant on left looks like might be a tree? Generally though the shrubs should be kept below the windows & not hide the house. I see from one of your pics that the shrub right next to door blooms pink so 2 things to think about. Don’t trim spring or summer bloomers until after they bloom or all flowers may be cut off. And, be mindful of the color of blooms when choosing front door color - for instance - I’m not sure that coral / salmon color is good blend with pink flowers. The green will go with anything! I do agree with the suggestion to paint the storm door same as main door. Your porch is big enough that good sized pots in a color that matches the door would be quite an eye catcher. Not sure how evergreens would fare through a Cape Cod winter but summer annuals would be lovely. You have enough space on each side for larger lights - just something to think about. I wouldn’t worry about the 2 shutters between the 2 windows. Either leave as is or photo shop taking the 2 inside shutters off to see how it looks.

I love the turquoise you have now. However, I do understand wanting a change. The teal color posted above is a bit different than what you have and is a very pretty color.

Painting the front door is a fun way to switch things up. I agree that the storm door painted the same color is a sharp look.

Ok so I am LOVING the marigold!   I had written off yellow but that color could be eye-catching. And no one in my neighborhood has anything like that. 

 I'm not sure about painting the storm door.  I like that it would match but the paint would take a beating here (sun, salt, wind, snow).  I think it's smarter (read: less maintenance) to keep it as is.  

I like the tall pots idea, too. In a complementary color.

I loved the marigold the best also. It’s BM Yellow Marigold 2155-30. I think it would work really well with your gray shutters.

Makes sense about the storm door.. Looks like it has a screen in top that can be lowered in nice weather. I really like the Marigold color too. Thinking about the interior of your home - the entry & front room - the color would look great from interior too when it stands in open position. So, looks like you’ll need a new doormat to match the new door color! Slippery slope these projects are! Or, “project creep” as I like to refer to one thing leading to another,😊

I call it - you give a mouse a cookie. LOL! If you have kids and have read that book to them, you'll understand. You give the mouse a cookie, and they want milk, they get milk, then they need a napkin, on and on and on......

So funny! No kids but I sure can relate to the analogy! My little dog is like that but I call her manipulative. But, I do know several people who I shall now be referring to as ”mouse” 😄

I also agree about the storm door. They have a baked on enamel finish, that holds up almost forever. I would never paint one, unless something happened that it would look better painted.

I too agree about the storm door. I am in a coastal climate and there is no point in making more work for yourself. It is white and it ties in just fine with your trim.
