Help with paint colors

Just had a painter paint our exterior SW Shoji White. Fascia/soffit and garage door was going to be accessible beige with an Urbane bronze front door. When I went to SW to get 8x8 samples of those colors, I was disappointed and started revisiting my hankering for sage green. So with no time to test, no larger samples to look at I chose Connected gray (not sage green but on the same ’strip’ as Svelte Sage),

planning to do the front door in Garden Gate. And…I hate it. PLUS the painter painted the etched window borders (and door arch) which my husband was supposed

to tell him to keep in Shoji white. We can’t afford to have him repaint most of the Connected Gray (or the Shoji walls), but I need to decide what color to repaint the window outlines (my husband doesn’t want to leave them the same as the walls so maybe Shoji 25% lighter? Pearly white or pearly white 25% darker?) I don’t want to go darker with Shoji because it is already way more orange/peach than I wanted. Also, while I hadn’t wanted the arch over the door painted (we have a solid door in order btw) , I have to admit it helps draw the eye away from the imbalanced architectural entry arch, SO, I am looking for a lighter, prettier color for the arch (Not sure how light/low contrast I can go and still get that balancing effect), and, probably a new front door color. Besides not liking Connected gray, I feel like it clashes with Shoji. So, I need these colors to match shoji more than they do the Connected gray- hopefully without clashing with CG. Would greatly appreciate suggestions!

I think it is good idea to go with the Shoji White color just 1-2 tone down for trim or existing trim color just 1-2 tone up.

A for landscape, I would go with shrubs along the path.

As you can see, landscaping makes a WORLD of diff in overall look. Don't jump the gun yet until everything is in.

you said you're getting a new door? or painting that one?

I don't think the connected gray is too bad. has quite a bit of green/bronze undertone

    Eclipse is a bit darker.

Garden gate is OK. maybe redo the trim in that and go for a lighter door color? since it's under the portico, doing a dark color is going to make it disappear.

    here's urbane bronze

this is a lot lighter than garden gate (it's a grayish green) but you see how it all blends? I don't know if this is the look you want

here's Celery's w/a warm wood option (those flowers really make the whole landscape come to life though

if you don't like the green hues, gauntlet gray would be a good choice.

I really like this color combo

Or if you like more neutral tones^

door w/the white trim and soft blue door

Maybe just have your husband paint the trim and leave the fascia. Or perhaps you can save up and have just the fascia painted next year.

concentrate on the door and landscape after the trim.

Thanks. Celery and Beth. I can’t seem to reply to individual comments. So Definately on the landscaping (I’ve already got the plants stashed-just was waiting for the painter to be finished.) And we actually have a similar walkway planned because the garage is on the other side of the house. So, nevermind the shade- but neither of you think dark trim around the windows looks awful?? Almost all the stucco mediterranean houses I’ve looked are free of window trim altogether-plus, since we bought it without trim, and the trim is basically just outlined on, I feel like it should just be plain. But if I am wrong? Lol, what about going lighter, not darker ie Grassland?

Beth, re your pallette, I hadn’t thought of putting Oyster White with Shoji. I wonder what it would look like as window trim? (Since I ’have’ to trim them and don’t want to, Lol). I definately prefer a dark door for this house (and forgot to mention, we are selling- and I’ve read that black is recommended by realtors, hence Urbane bronze vs Garden gate, etc.) And can’t repaint the fascia, so the question becomes what will be okay with both shoji and connected gray, for the border around the door and the door? I like fawn brindle better with shoji and urbane bronze, but not sure how it would do with connected gray. I feel kind of obligated to stay with green tones, but maybe I should get some samples. You mentioned Eclipse. was that for the window trim, fascia, front door trim, or front door arch? Thanks so much for your help🙂

I just mentioned Eclipse because it was next to that connected gray shade.

I'm not big on the tone on tone on these stucco homes.

Looking at the colors only (not style) do you mean the stucco as is, and then painting the trim in something like they did here w/City Loft? you want this type of look? I do like these 3 tones, but I think on your home it would be somewhat blah.

I have a similar style and went w/Swiss Coffee and Wrought Iron (I have a charcoal tile roof. the fasica is a silver gray because I thought the roof tiles were going to be much darker (had it painted first) once the tiles went up, I realized I could have gone w/the Wrought Iron trim that you see under the fascia and around the garage door.

So no, I don't think the darker trim looks awful. I like it. In fact, Celery did a fabulous job w/this landscaping. I love it! love the pink taller plants against the swath of stucco.

I think this moderizes the home.

a wood placque w/this metal color (matches perfectly) could go on the stucco or way up front

what do you think w/a dark, modern door?

    bronze, modern lights

    Maybe some verdigris ceramaic planters

I might even bring in some wood with some short runs of an accent fence

something like this, low height, placed in 1 or 2 spots by the pathway off to the side

not all this retaining wall, just imagine a very low wall in a small spot in the front. with or without the address

Kind of like this, but done in that wood

or, copper pots or a copper planter. I've even see this done on a low wall

here's one example. see the low wall w/the address? you could wood or something w/copper or painted to look liek copper. (You can buy copper sheeting for cheap. I have a roll of it)

    something like this?

    or some planters w/the copper?

I wish I could find a pictures of what I'm trying to explain!

    maybe this one?
