Walk in closet decorating and storage

I want to add more storage to my walk in closet but no builds ins. Should I do an island in the center or a dresser on the empty wall. What can I do to decorate the space and make it look nice. Should I add an ottoman, wall art, and an area rug?

Decorate a closet? Who goes in there besides you? "Make it look nice"???? Less clothes crammed onto rods. I would put some type of storage to store off season clothing.

Appears you have room for an island with deep drawers to store off season items. If that is not affordable, a deep armoire or wardrobe with drawers will work. De-clutter and purge, deciding what stays and what goes for each season. If items must be kept in boxes on shelves purchase pretty matching boxes either see-thru, or in a pattern for some color and interest although all of the clothing does provide much of that. A small chair or bench is really helpful, and a full-length mirror.

You have a huge space why are all the clothes crammed together and why nothing organized on the shelves and IMO why plastic boxes for storage get 2 dressers back to back in the center of the space put everything you have in the shelves and plastic boxes in the neew dressers. Purge all the hanging stuff and IMO then get matching hanngers for everything and organize all the hanging stuff with some idea of color or purpose. I agree a nice full length mirror for sure and a chair . Where are your shoes? IMO a closet needs purging at least once every 2 years and be brutal if you have no worn it in 2 yrs you never will the exception might be formal dresses. Everything needs to be hung properly on the proper hangers I like like things hing together like all pants , all blouses etc. IMO jeans do not need to be hung . Do you share this closet with someone else or just your stuff? Take pics of the other walls too and post here ina comment do not start another post. Change all the bulbs to LED 4000K for sure .

At times in different homes, I've had furniture in a walk in closet such as a lingerie chest, small bookcase, or a small dresser. It keeps the bedroom from being too cluttered with furniture and it's convenient in the closet to have extra storage.

You could put an ottoman (or a chair which may be a higher seating height and more comfortable) if you like to sit to put on clothing or shoes. You could install one of those extending rods to place your next outfit on if you like to steam your clothing or organize your outfits in advance.

@Valinta What colors do you suggest for the ottoman and mirror?

People, she's asking for solutions - she knows everything is crammed into space she has. That's why she's asking. No need to tell her to purge her belongings because you think she has too much.

You could simply get a low dresser or two and place them back to back to act as an island. There are attractive options for shoe storage that can go on the blank wall. Hooks to hang scarves and belts. On top of the dressers you can have jewelry storage boxes. If you have room a chair so you can sit to put on shoes. If you have more room, how about a dressing vanity to put on your makeup, instead of doing it in the bathroom (or you could have that in the bedroom).

It looks like you have enough room for an island. You could also add a rug to make things feel cozier. Here are a few ideas for you as well. You could do a vanity area for doing makeup or a small seat by the window.
