Tumbled pavers a maintenance issue? Other considerations?

Hello!

We are considering pavers for two small driveways and two walkways for a small beach bungalow property.

I’m wondering if people with tumbled pavers could weigh in on whether or not they are difficult to keep clean/looking nice? We prefer the look of tumbled but they are very expensive and so we want to be careful that we aren’t purchasing something that is going to cause maintenance headaches.

Anyway, we saw a demonstration area at a local paver place that was partially under a tree. The tumbled pavers had a big dirty spot in that area,(photo #1) whereas the regular pavers under the same tree did not. (photo #2)

I also noticed that in the area where people walk, and trucks go in and out, it looked like the surface of the paver has worn away, revealing the concrete underneath? Is that possible, that the color doesn’t go all the way through?

We appreciate any input. Thanks so much.
