Are home owners in Canada allowed to cut branches of the trees themselves without permit or notification to municipalities?

A simple online search should reveal that regulations regarding trees in Canada are outlined in detail by various sources, including Tree Canada and treelaw.info. In short, regulations and legislation/enforcement are enacted primarily at the municipal level under whatever provincial requirements exist. And these will vary according to municipality so you need to check at your local level.

For the purpose of this discussion, here are the regs for the City of Toronto.

i would suggest 99.9% of trees will not root from cuttings.. and none will root from cut branches...

the few that will root will root from small cuttings cut at a very specific time of the growth cycle.. and i cant think of any mid summer cycle that is time to root cuttings...
